Redcliffe Dolphins recruitment targets

So every time a club goes after a quality player, they're desperate? 😂
So every club is desperate then.
You're just a nervous Broncos supporter an you hate the fact the Broncos will be the second best Brisbane team the moment that there's 2 clubs 🤣🤣🤣
Exactly, don't waste your time arguing with a Broncos supporter. Their recruitment strategy is to sign overrated schoolboys and wannabes. Evident in their current position.

Do you work for the Dolphins by chance? You sound like somebody from their media department throwing out a media release.

You can call it what you will but the kid is contracted to the Broncos for another three years and they are trying to get him to break a contract. That’s desperation in my book.

Also their squad is very ordinary at this point in time - I hope they prove me wrong but that is what it is on paper at least.
He's got you there colk... just coz someone is optimistic about this side doesn't mean they are are ìn the pocket, or if they are negative as you have been regarding their roster, that they are a bronx fan with an agenda...
I think their roster is pretty good.. i know how good o sulivan is, he is another nathan 2.0, and has been under his wing and in opposing sections past 2 years... he'll give reynoldsa run for his money in the derbies...
Best part about O'sullivan is he has a more accurate kicking game than Cleary, but he aint as tough as him

Wow I was really expecting to lose Munster. Seems like even lots more money cant lure the big name players to the Dolphins. Wonder who'll they'll go after now?

Nice try guys - Raiders fan btw.

I am actually the most rabid pro expansionist you could think of. The reason why I am worried is that the worst thing that you could happen to the expansion argument is for this side to be bottom four whilst the competition doesn’t improve. You’ll have people going ‘see, we shouldn’t have put in another side’

Also if this expansion, in a strong league area might I add, is a bust what stomach are people in charge going to have for something that will be harder but needed like Perth, a second NZ team, Pacific side or heck even Adelaide.

Back on topic, they are going after a bloke under contract who hasn’t even played first grade and who’s 17. Sure this guy might be promising but it looks pretty desperate - they can’t sign anybody else.

Also, going after quality players is a given but it’s worrying that they haven’t signed many - that’s not entirely on the Dolphins either that is more the ARLC’s doing.

What you're saying doesn't even makes sense. How can you be desperate for someone who's 2 years away from a debut?
Their roster is better than half the comp with the best coach that's ever lived.
Crack a Window or somethin.

I'd actually say current living coach, still coaching...
I reckon Jack Gibson is probably the best coach ever

Far out.

The action itself is desperate. The kid hasn’t played first grade and he is already under contract somewhere else. They are trying to entice somebody to break a contract.

Also I don’t blame them. They have been given a year to purchase a squad and get everything underneath. It is way too little time.

Also, half the competition. Seriously mate you should be cracking the window. They have a couple of good forwards (every side in the competition has that). Their backline is very ordinary at this stage and their spine is better than the Warriors and the Knights and maybe equal to a couple of others.

Easily better than half... what are smoking to think they aren't... the key take away is Hammer, Milford, O'Sullivan and BenjiJr are young and have played enough NRL grade games to be a great spine... sure Munster would have been better, but the roster is pretty good mix of NRL grade experience, Aiken, Lees, Bromis, and hard nuts like Gilbert, Stone, Nicholls and Kaufusi

Haven’t smoked for a while. Let me know the sides that they are better than on paper

TIGERS, TITANS, DRAGONS, NEWCASTLE, BRISBANE, WARRIORS, BULLDOGS, MANLY...
I'd even chuck parra in there, just coz theyve lost Mahoney... plus how they feel apart in the GF

Tigers - probably yeah. Their spine is better but the Dolphins forward pack is better
Titans - on paper disagree. They were easily the biggest disappointment for me last year
Dragons - I’ll think they will be ahead of them because the Dragons are impoding. I’d rate the Dragons backline and halves as better. Dragons forward pack isn’t good though. So 50/50
Newcastle - The Knights have no depth so overall yes
Brisbane - no
Warriors - yes 100%. I’m very worried about the Warriors
Bulldogs - Bulldogs spine is a lot better, backs and forwards are about even but I’d go Bulldogs based on spine
Manly - no. They are imploding yes but they have a much better side on paper.

Dolphins will finish 10th-12th first 2 seasons I reckon. Not a disaster but not the success they could have been. They do still have $1mill plus to throw at someone though so who knows how that might change things of they land someone for '24. The Tongans seem to like Woolf so that may assist in getting someone from that Tongan side?

Dolphins aren't going to win much with Isaako and Milford.

Still no marquee signing. Very disappointing.

The backline certainly looks very avg still.

1. Tabuai-Fidow (1st grade Cowboys)
2. E Lee (1st grade Knights)
3. B Lee (reserve grade Broncos) / Valynce Te Whare (centre -union)
4. Aitken (1st grade Warriors)
5. Isaako (1st grade Broncos)
6. Milford (1st grade knights)
7. O’Sullivan (reserve grade Panthers )

At least Isaako might only be depth now which is a positive.

Milford hasn’t played many good games in the last couple of years. Who knows Bennett might get something out of him though.

If they get between 10-12th that would be a pass. If they do better than that, they have done very well

I watched that Te Whare in the QLD Cup recently. He might be a smoky.

Look, sometimes these things are hard to predict - who would have predicted the Cowboys making the preliminary final for example. So the Dolphins might get some blokes like Te Whare who could explode out of nowhere. Or some of these fringe players might play their best football.

On paper though they don’t have any marquee or top echelon players and on paper their depth is not great.

Titans on paper are woeful... they got captain prop playing lock, got a fulback at 5/8th, dropped foggerty for a cup side halfback, only thing they got is presto jr.. hammer beats him anyday of the week
Bulldogs will have Rheed Mahoney and kiks, along with burto and the rest yeah maybe they jump the dolphins..
Brisbane have bugger all defence, they rely heavily on reynold kicks, and carrigans finger pointing... when they are busted so to are the bronx, only saving grace they had was TMM at fullback, very underrated....
Manly lost the only composed player they had, Foran.. DCE goes missing most games, and turbo plays half a season, due to injuries, the rest are no name blacktown boys who need to step up or they also go missing

Why does everyone carry on about a marque signing?
It's going to be much better for the growth of the club and fanbase if they create their own!
As such, Bennett has O'Sullivan and after the young bloke from Brisbane.
A lot of the backline are on the verge of breakout seasons , especially under Bennett.
My smokey is Branco Lee. He's big fast and powerful, always been stuck behind someone but if he gets regular first grade, he might find his grove.

The big question is whether or not they gell.... under Bennett 😎

Its true you can spend a lot of cap on marquee players without it actually being beneficial (looking at you Titans!). I guess you'd want a decent game changing back from the start ideally and they are the ones that come with the marquee tag.
They've done a great job recruiting in the pack imo but the backs look pretty avg and thats where they could really do with a name, in the spine. I am surprised they have still got $1.4 plus mill unspent in the cap, must have picked up some bargains.
