I get he’ll be super old, which is why a 1 year player contract rolling into a coaching gig would be what I’d do.

the dolphins first season will be somewhat of a write off anyway, so he’d be great for marketing and then long term would be a tremendous mentor to the playing squad.

if he is too old to play then put him straight into a halves coaching gig and running water. He’d give langer a run for his money

37 years old in 2023. Spent the previous year playing domestic comp league in France (i.e. the level below UK Super League in France) which in some respects would be like playing A-Grade in a junior league competition. His body would not be able to handle NRL level contact by that stage. I mean how many 36-37 year old halfbacks have you seen play at first grade level in the NSWRL/ARL/NRL?

The oldest I can think of in recent memory was Matt Orford when he signed for Canberra in 2011. He was 33 years old at the time, and every Raiders fan will tell you based on what they saw he was washed up. HE played 6 games for them before he was released at season's end and retired as no one wanted him.

I have a lot of time for Maloney as a player, but by 2023 he won't be physically up to the rigours of playing in the NRL.

He would be better off in a coaching role.

Wasn't an NRL player in 2009, which is why he went to England.

(Edit: The quote didn't make it. I was talking of course about Jarrod Sammut).

Im sure the design will be iconic for redcliffe, but maybe not so much fir the NRL.
Expect a sharks design jersey with red replacing the sky blue... yes not so inventive but its inline with their history

He would be better off in a coaching role.

mate cooper Cronk was 34 when he won the 2018 GF.

cam smith was a thousand when he retired last year playing hooker - arguably a much more physically demanding position.

he wouldn’t be world class but his skill set and attitude are unmatched. If he thinks he could do 12 months with plenty of time to prep then great. Otherwise coaching gig for sure
