Something that does work in Redcliffe's favour is that they already have a stadium to use which will help their bid.

I really hope any addition of teams to the Nrl goes through existing organisations like Redcliffe. It's a much more organic growth for the game rather than the likes of the bombers bid materialising from nothing with no history etc.... I wouldn't even make changes to the Redcliffe club for its license except at a push to something like "Redcliffe-moreton dolphins" to reflect that LGA as a whole.

Sunshine Coast I would treat as a seperate entity as it's just a waste of time doing catch all franchises which rarely work and require a strong regional identity over a large area e.g. NQ Cowboys to work

Thanks PR. On those numbers it's doable! It appears to be a growing region with plenty of nearby area populations as well. So perhaps the Brisbane Dolphins or the Redcliffe-More ton Bay Dolphins does have wings!? (or flippers).

Biggest issue for them will be stadium. Suncorp is about an hours drive or 90mins on public transport and I can’t see the nrl wanting another Brisbane team that isn’t playing out of Suncorp. The Redcliffe stadium would need $100million spending on it to get it anything like what the nrl wants clubs to be playi g in and Q’land council won’t pay for it.

Agree. It will have to be playing out of Suncorp stadium. No doubt about that. Wonder what that general region of Northern Brisbane and the Moreton Bay area could be named? I think Dolphins is good but a locality name covering this northern Brisbane/Moreton Bay area needs to be locked in I'd say ?

I just looked it up and the capacity is 10,000 at Dolphins stadium and with an upgrade it could potentially seat between 15-20 thousand. A number of NRL clubs play games at stadiums with that kind of capacity so they can play games at Redcliffe and some at Lang Park.

Problem I see is it’s limiting for a Brisbane side.

I think a second Brisbane team could easily be looking at an average of 20-25k, we should be rightly having higher goals for new teams.

If you used dolphins stadium I think it would be for 3 matches, with the others 9 being at Suncorp.

It doesn’t look ok, it looks like a smaller poorer version of Campbelltown which is barely fit for nrl in the modern era. I’d doubt there would be 2000 seats undercover, nowhere near adequate for an nrl team that is going to be competing directly with the biggest club in the world.

Hopefully one of the criteria for any new club wanting to be in will be a min standard stadium to play out of.

The Broncos entry back in 1988 killed off a lot of the local league scene and the Dolphins play a big part in the ISC and have a proud history in Brisbane/QLD competitions and hope a lot of that history isn't lost if Redcliffe did join.

I had a look online but could not find their annual report. Would be interesting reading, they would certainly have assets on the books with Shopping centre, Health centre, stadium etc.... What the LC makes in AR would be the key, if I had to guess I would think of the region of 25m-30m which is small fry compared to the bigger Sydney clubs.

That won't be an issue, could have the Moreton Bay Dolphins as NRL side and the Redcliffe Dolphins continue in the ISC with all current junior teams.

According to the timetable it’s 1 hour by train from kippa ring station to Milton station. Not terrible.

No you couldn’t, the nrl wants to grow the game, not see precious expansion spots taken up with suburban mentality small time clubs like it is saddled with in Sydney.
