Broncos have a long list of companies queueing up to sponsor them. Those who get shafted by the Broncos can sign with the Dolphins. North Brisbane, Brisbane, Moreton Bay, East Coast or South Queensland as their name will make their brand broad enough to appeal to advertisers, with the team playing out of Lang Park.

One of the competing bids for the NRL's 17th licence, the Redcliffe Dolphins, officially filed a trademark on the title "Brisbane Dolphins" on February 4, Wide World of Sports can reveal.

Dropping their suburban name of Redcliffe by switching to the title "Brisbane Dolphins" will no doubt broaden their appeal beyond the Moreton Bay Region housing around 470,000 residents.

But according to club chairman Bob Jones, the trademark application does not guarantee that will be the team's name when submitting their bid to the NRL.
"We only registered it to keep it up our sleeve," Jones said.
"We will actually go to the community and get the fans input. It's not concrete and one of a number of a few tossed around, but more than likely the name Redcliffe will be dropped."
So, what are the options being touted within the bidding team?

"It must be representative of the region," Jones said.
"A couple of the names we are looking at are the Sunshine State Dolphins and the River City Dolphins. The application for the title Brisbane Dolphins was to guarantee it was available if we chose it."

that’s not what Marlins was suggesting. I agree with your possible split and should give them a membership boost on sunny coast, though if demand is so strong in brisbane as everyone says it is then they shouldn’t have a problem being one of the top attended and membership clubs with 12 games at Suncorp should they?

No it’s been 15-16k for last 15 years. Surely you’d want new clubs to be increasing the avg not dragging it even lower? Playing in 11k qlnd cup stadiums means avg’s of 10kif you sell out, even less if a few games have rain. Just to match the nrl avg they’d have to be getting around around 25k to the Suncorp games with your split. They need to be playing at least 10 games at Suncorp until Redcliffe or sunny coast gets a 25k plus stadium.

Sunshine Coast should get their own team one day.

Property prices have risen astronomically within the part of Brisbane you're referring to because former Lord Mayor Graham Quirk opened it up developers and Chinese investors. The working class has been pushed out of the area. RL fans are slowly being forced to live on the outskirts.

The infrastructure, as in roads and public transport, is ill-equipped to handle the population boom. Getting to Lang Park on a Friday night on the limited and clogged up roadways is a nightmare as Milton isn't far from the CBD.

Before the Super League War, the Broncos drew their highest crowds at QEII Stadium, which is on the southside in what was a working class area.

Getting to Suncorp on a Friday is easy via train or bus. Who drives there?

Moreton Gubbi Dolphins - A recognition of the Gubbi Gubbi people and COUNTRY which extends from Caboolture in the south, encompassing the whole Sunshine Coast region, and to its northern borders of Childers. The Moreton region is their home/training base at Dolphin Stadium. Kawana Stadium on the Sunshine Coast apparently has QLD government development plans to extend to 23,500 in the future, giving the Dolphins a proper NRL standard stadium to play out of. Doesn’t matter which way you spin it, Redcliffe and the Sunshine Coast is not Brisbane. I must emphasise though, a 2nd Brisbane based side will probably get an NRL licence first, to utilise Suncorp Stadium every weekend.

You don't need too drive to a train or bus station at all

You do if you don't live next to one. The other alternative is paying busfare at a local bus stop to get to a bus station or train station. You have to factor in walking distance and the bus schedule, as you could end up spending 30 or 60 minutes just getting to the bus/train station, depending on time it takes to walk there and frequency of buses.

I live in Logan and have no choice but to drive to Eight Mile Plains Bus Station to get the free bus service. I could walk down to Springwood Bus Station and pay to get a bus to Eight Miles Plains, but that would take far longer and be much costlier.

I said that working class families are being forced to the outskirts, like Logan, Redlands, Moreton Bay Region and Ipswich. There are no free bus services in these areas. Infrastructure is valid because the bus that travels from Eight Mile Plains goes from the busway to the Brisbane CBD via the Victoria Bridge, which is full of traffic at night time.
