SK I know you're there because AG is, no need to hurry back to the shallow pool with the smell of piss and chlorine, stay and
talk for a while, I won't let you drown. You must be keen on Benny's chances next year. I'll have a small bet, say your master's
green balls, that your avatar mid season will be a picture of Jeremy Smith. He'll be the new hero for you to worship.
'12 was the chalk compared to the cheese '13 will bring, Jeremy carried Benny for the red V and if he stays healthy the Knights
will escape the one forward and two back maze. Talk to me SK
Okay Pops I'll grace you with a serious response this one time. But then I'll go back to Firkinland and you can go back to ranting about Slothfield.
To be honest I'm really excited about our backrow for next year. It's probably the best one we've had since the Kennedy/Simpson/Peden days. Scott and Smith are rep-class backrowers who understand Bennett's game plan and will give us a bit more potency on the edge.
I'm hoping Bennett might consider moving Chris Houston to lock. I've felt that Chris being a bit of a tackling machine would be well suited in the middle and there were times in the past where Chris would stifle our attacking raids down the flanks by taking the tackle when we had the overlap.
Also by moving Houston away from the edge it may just encourage Mullen to be a bit more creative and come up with some new attacking plays other than the predictable short ball to Houston that opposition defences worked out a long time ago.
I really rate our attacking backline. Boyd, Gagai and Uate in particular can cause headaches for defenders through some fairly potent sweeping backline plays. We've fixed up our most glaring weakness by investing in some mongrel and toughness up front.
I also like some of the emerging young forwards we've got coming along such as Robbie Rochow, Korbin Sims, Patrick Vaivai, Toka Likiliki and Mitchell Frei. In fact I'm more excited than I normally am because I can see the influence Bennett exerts on promising young players, they look to him as a father figure.
I guess the big question mark is still on our halves. Will Gidley stay on the park this season? Will Mullen continue to display the newfound composure and maturity he found at last under a decent coach? Or will a young bloke like Tyrone Roberts, Jacob Gagai or Adrian Davis take the league world by storm?
Anyway that's enough. Off to Firkinland.
