Mann was fine. Positioning was ok, support play was very good (Merrin would have a field day with him!), cover defence was also good (saved 2 tries on Melbourne line breaks) and his pass for Nightingales try was brilliant. Suspect under the high ball in patches, but Cronk has made the best fullbacks in the world look like chumps!

He also looks very quick and agile. Definitely worth persevering with at this stage, only a proper simpleton would want him dropped now.

I agree. Don't forget he was playing against his old team on his old stomping ground in his first game for us. Who wouldn't be nervous.

I live in hope that Havilli will be our answer at 9. I've seen enough of Rein over the years to know that this is the best we're going to get out of Rein, folks. His passing WON'T improve. The problem with Rein is that you can't convert heart into talent, or at least rely on heart in lieu of talent, especially when the position he plays is so critical to how we play as a team. When you then factor in the sad facts that 1. his passing game hasn't improved since his debut and 2. he gets worse as gets fatigued then we've got a huge problem if he's our starting hooker.
For the rest of the year I'd prefer to see hAvili start as hooker and bring Rein on later in the game when his occasional opportunistic dummy half runs and fresh defence would be an asset off the bench.
