As a kid of 7-8, I lived in Wagga Wagga where had CH 2 ABC and some composit channel called RVN AMV.

I loved Dr Who, the Goodies, Danger Mouse He Man, Star Blazers and Battle of the Planets. Simon Townsend’s Wonder World. V, A Country Practice and A Team and Knightrider.

But I vaguely remember some kids show about 1983/84 that was about 3 school kids who had some magic wand type thing they could shake. One episode they were in some sports carnival and one was running but coming last. So they stopped time, the kid got a drink then repositioned themselves and started time and consequently won. For the life of me don’t know what it’s called.

Another thing I recall is the PAC Man cartoon show as well as the chips and brekkie cereal.

I can’t forget SMURFS ice cream...and later in 1987 the Garfield Hunger Buster. Oh and Feast.

And Scanlens cricket sticker books and RL and ROTJ bubblegum cards.

I was lucky to get a Game & Watch too. Utter joy the day I clocked this baby:

Buying tobacco at the corner store for your parents & getting lollies with the leftvover change regardless if your parents wanted the change back or not.

Buying $2 worth of hot chips and there being enough to feed a family of 5 with left overs.
Yep I remember that. In fact as recently as 2003 I remember buying some chips from a fish & chips shop near the college I was going to. They cost $1.80 and it was like a mini sack. I couldn't get threw half of them and was sharing with a mate.

I remember my brother and I once found a whole $1 coin. They were new and he being 5 and I being 8, decided to buy a $1 worth of mixed lollies at the corner shop.

The bloke who ran our corner shop refused. He said he knew my mum and she'd never let us buy a $1 of mixed lollies in one hit. So we got 50c worth (still 50 odd lollies) and kept the change.

Much later, about 1990, I remember I used to buy Hit Songwords and Smash Hits and Hot Metal Magazines. I'd clip the lyrics to songs I bought cassingles for. Anyway...this one week, Smash Hits had risen in price from $1.95 to $1.97 - A WHOLE TWO CENTS. And I was short the 2c and the newsagents wouldn't sell it to me. And this was probably 12-18 months before 1c and 2c were rendered obsolete and withdrawn from circulation.

Buying $1 of 1c lollies from the corner store and counting each one as it was put into the bag to make sure there was 100.

The people that owned the corner store knowing all of their customers aswell.

Also the corner store owners that sold me cigarettes as a 15 year old while in my school uniform. Nice people.

I remember sneaking into a pub near school to buy ciggies from the smoke machine. Smoke machine took my money and gave me nothing. Being 14 I was just gonna leave but the manager called me back, I thought I was busted. He opened the machine, gave me my smokes and a schooner on the house for my trouble. I became a king that day being able to get smokes and take away booze.

We had a corner store opposite to the High School I attended, the owner would gladly sell smokes to schoolkids but there would be hell to pay if any of those kids smoked the ciggies near his store.
