I didn't think it was much of a shot. Looked a bit more aggressive than it actually was. I don't think he should be charged.

We will lose him to a more proactive club. We will look at him and say that he is 17 and not ready for 3 or 4 years, wheras the Roosters or Bulldogs would pinch him and grade him at 18 even if only in baby steps initially. We spend too much on Aku's and not enough on juniors to stave off competition. Pathetic management. There is a reason Brian Smith held Aku back and now we see it. He has far more flaws than strengths to his game.

I think Sione knows the club holds him in high regard, let's remember he's still eligible for SG Ball and has been earmarked for first grade as soon as he turns 18. I'd imagine he'd take Jimmy's spot in a year or 2

What are you talking about? Who at the club has said he isn't ready? He isn't even eligible to play FG yet and we have him training with the FG squad so the club must rate him highly and not think he's too far off.

If Sione goes it will be because he has two young and very talented centres in front of him. Not because we don't rate him.

I hope our backline in 2 years looks like this:
Mamo
Aku (until we can get rid of his clusterf**k of a contract)
Leilua
Sione
Gagai

Gagai will never be a winger. I would think it more likely to see Gagai at fullback and Mamo on the wing than that.

I think Mamo is too small for the wing, his speed, anticipation and broken field running is much more suited to fullback. I think Sione and Gagai are quite similar but Sione is a lot better defensively IMO, when Sione hits someone the stay hit, I also think he's got a higher football IQ. I think Dane would be great on the wing, he loves coming in field to take hit ups and is awesome under the high ball

I have severe doubts that Gagai would be happy to play on the wing for us when other clubs would love to have him in their centres or at fullback, and rightly so. Sure, Gagai could do the job on the wing just like Hodges could have done a job on the wing. But what a waste for him.

Higher football IQ? I don't think you'll find a smarter footballer than Dane. He doesn't enjoy getting smashed taking hitups but no other Knights want to do the dirty work.

Most Hitups after 8 Rounds.
1. Sam Burgess (South Sydney) 164
2. Aiden Tolman (Canterbury-Bankstown) 137
3. Aaron Woods (Wests Tigers) 135
4. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (Sydney Roosters) 129
4. Trent Merrin (St George Illawarra) 129
6. Daniel Vidot (Brisbane) 128
7. Greg Bird (Gold Coast) 127
8. Jesse Bromwich (Melbourne) 126
9. Dane Gagai (Newcastle) 124
10. Corey Parker (Brisbane) 118
10. Jacob Lillyman (Warriors) 118
10. James Graham (Canterbury-Bankstown) 118
13. David Taylor (Gold Coast) 116
13. Greg Inglis (South Sydney) 116
13. Jason Nightingale (St George Illawarra) 116
13. Sam Perrett (Canterbury-Bankstown) 116
17. James Tamou (North Queensland) 115
18. Billy Slater (Melbourne) 114
18. Ryan Hoffman (Melbourne) 114
20. Michael Gordon (Cronulla) 113

No other centre in the top 20 except for Dane. Shows how badly he being used atm.

Back on the topic of the thread, I thought Mullen outplayed Reynolds in CvC. Reynolds was lucky to get a freakish try to his name due to the work of Fifita and Moylan. Mullen controlled much of the game, kicked a really sweet 40/20 and was involved in 2 tries. He had some shaky moments, too... he's not where he was last year yet, but I thought he was probably the best half on field. Can feel a bit dudded if he doesn't get a crack this year IMO.

On the whole, none of them are close to what QLD have at their disposal. If Mullo is the best of what we have then good luck to him for the blues this year.

I'd prefer he didn't get picked, because when nsw lose he'll cop the blame and take another five years to recover.

If Mullen doesn't get a crack this year, he might as well not put his hand up and blacklist himself. Josh Reynolds was useless all day except for supporting Moylan and getting that try, focused more on milking penalties and throwing some terrible passes. Adam Reynolds may have made a bit of a push, but it was only in the final few minutes where he had any real impact. Mullen was class again across the field. Still far from where he was last year, but you would think with some sanity he'll return to the Blues.
