Rochow? Seriously? What has he done this year apart from be mediocre?

No way he should get any sort of reward (even a country jumper) for the way he's played for most of this year. I can sympathise with the kid because his drop in form really did seem to coincide with Macca's injury and from what I've heard the two are extremely close and have lived together...but based on his form for most of the year he's very lucky.

Surely getting rep experience can only give a benefit to him ? Actually, now that I think of it surely Snowden should have been the replacement. He has been tremendous for us in most games this year.

Yes but they are game breakers, just like Aku was when we offered him a contract.

My point was that we aren't the only teams to offer "outside backs" big contracts for long terms

The days of fullbacks being just another outside back are over, these days your fullback is one of the most important positions, as important as your halves.

That's a good point. I do think this will be good for Rochows career as he'll come back to the knights as a more confident player. Having said that, I would have Snowden over Rochow any day of the week! Especially based on current form!

Roberts is extremely lucky to be there. He was close to worst on the field on Saturday night.
Kicked it out on the full from a kick off, kicked it out on the full in play, gave away a penalty on the 5th tackle, took the wrong options in attack...

At the rate blokes are pulling out anyone can get a run.

Really is a poor quality "rep" game when half the blokes aren't required to play for some reason and the other half pull out after being named. A generalisation but you know what I mean. If the quality players that are left don't stand out in this game they should be marked never to play for NSW anyway.

Only way to legitmise the game is make it a genuine origin trial again. If you are not picked to play you in the City Country game then you have zero chance of SOO selection. That will put an end to this bullshit.

I think at the very least if you're picked for CC and your club pulls you out without a legitimate injury then you should automatically be ineligible to play SOO.

The game doesn't mean much in terms of selection but it's a complete slap in the face to country RL all these blokes pulling out.

I honestly don't get all the Knights love in the rep teams. When we're going well, we get fu*k all players selected and when we're playing sh*t, we get heaps in and mostly the wrong ones.

Seriously, Roberts and Rochow? WTF?

Roberts was a no brainer. Kelly, Carney and Maloney are injured. Who else was left for them to pick?

Like Rochow his form doesn't warrant selection but he has shown a lot of potential and that's the type of players they like for CC.

Soward is like Snowden in this regard. Playing well but no chance of SOO. They don't pick older, trialled players for CC unless they're considering selecting them for SOO. They prefer to go with young blokes to see what they can do.

Do people on here not rate Rochow at all anymore?

I don't think he's going to be an absolute gun attacking edge backrower by any means, but he can hit a hole and normally does the 1%ers well. I honestly see him as a player that will be a great mainstay in the 17 at least once we sort out our pack. I think people are pulling the gun on him too early just because of his lack of form.

Do people not rate Rochow at all or just think he's overrated or what?

He probably won't play Rep, but I think people are pulling the gun on him too early just because of his lack of form.

Agreed.

I think he is a solid benchie.

Totally agree, he'd be a fine bench forward at most clubs... but not much more than that.

Isn't anywhere near his best at the moment.

At his best I do rate him. Honestly I think he's going to be at the club for a very long time. However I don't think he deserves a rep jumper based on his current form. Im still happy for him though none the less and hope it gives him the motivation to come back and get back to his best form to push to the next level.

Nah, it wasn't aimed at you mate or anyone in particular. I actually agree with you.

More just all the comments about him the last week or so. I should of mentioned it in another thread a while ago but just posted it here.
