Who cares what Captains think some of those answers were a bit tongue in cheek.
To be fair, a lot of Knights fans are morons.
I would say most answers, because I don't think Captains give a rats arse about polls, it's just their opinion. (15 players) It's all about the selling papers. Anything for a story.
anyhow that's my opinion end of story.
Taking the opinions of one red eye one blue eye supporters in this forum, and applying it across the spectrum of all Knights fans does not equate to the actual reality.
Maybe you should get out more amongst the pubs and clubs and speak to a few other Knights ' fans '...
I've had just as many people around me talking down the reappointment of Smith as people who believe it was a good decision.
I maintain what I said. It has created mixed reactions from what I've seen.
In fact many believe that conditions placed on the extension actually make it a good signing.
I'm prepared to say it - i'm thinking Smith has got together a side close to his best sides at Parra - not quite the 2001 side - but good enough to challenge for our first minor premiership.Lets revisit this one shall well...For now, I'll keep my own council on the quality of the side.

I can. Our forward pack can match it with any other out there. Big, mobile, skillful bunch who are stinging in defence, led around by one of the best up-and-coming hookers. Our backs are anchored by one of the best players in the game, and definitely the fittest. We have nuggety centres with low centres of gravity and great leg drive, the safest winger in the comp, and (potentially) the most explosive winger. The only questionmark is over the halves. Mullen is a given, great running 5/8. His partner, though, is the only real weak point in our team as neither Walsh nor Dureau have displayed much in the way of consistancy. We know they can lead the team around, and they can win games, but whether they can do it week in, week out is another question.Big call... Big Big call... I cant see how our side is a great side really on paper...
Who cares what a preseason poll completed by the captains says. Anyone have last years to compare to actual results? Be interesting to see if it is actually even in the ballpark
EDIT: Just found this http://www.stuff.co.nz/4862388a27746.html
Only one person picked Manly to even play in the Grand Final last year after watching a full season of football. Only one person picked Orford as Dally M after watching a full season of football.
So before a ball is kicked can we honestly be worried about this?
Also article on last years (not comprehensive): http://www.leaguehq.com.au/news/news/leagues-burning-issues/2008/02/09/1202234230176.html?page=2
Knights favourties with 3 votes, with Raiders second with two votes, to take out the wooden spoon last year. Two of the captains that voted for the the Knights? One Mr A. Ryan, and one Mr J. Thurston.
The end of a football season is an age away from the end of the preseason.
Tut tut you are corrupting Karma's thread with common sense, objectivity and pertinent evidence.
I hope I'm wrong. And bookmark this next quote for review later in the year... but...
We'll be lucky if we make the Top 12 in 2009. And we sure as all crap won't make the top 4.
Very lucky.
