Respected & Feared? Why Fans Optimism For 2009 Is All Hope No Substance

I'm tipping us to come in at 5. Hopefully Cross with a full season along with Simmo will see us have some command up front. As said by others the young guys all have a year behind them abd will be far better for it this year. DeGois will be a quality replacement for Danny, and despite all the crap from the media I reckon Rogers will surprise all his critics. We lost some close games last year and really only got lapped badly in a couple, we'll improve on that this year purely because of added experience for the younger guys and more contribution from Crossy and Simmo, I also think Patto will make big steps up the ladder this year. Positive year I think, I wasn't that confident a couple of months ago, but when you think about last year and how close we really were I think it looks good.

I do believe however, if the Knights do make the Top 12, they'll have a lot of luck play a major part in doing so - injuries ( or lack of ) to the Knights/other teams etc...

I simply would not be surprised at all if the Knight come 13, or 14th in 2009. Not at all.

Can they make Top 8? Of course they can! But alot of stars will need to align for them to even think about doing so...

As for the Tigers... No I don't suport Detroit Tigers, I'm more a Los Angeles Dodgers fan... ;-)

If someone asked me right now where will the Knights come this year, I'd say 10th.

And we are one or two injuries away from that 10th turning into 14th , 15th or 16th.

That's just an opinion based on our squad strength in comparison to other teams.

And before people fly off the handle and say I'm always negative this, and always negative that, I was never predicting 10th place finishes too often in the past that's for sure. Even in the years where we came 15th.

But this year, I am.

So just to clarify, you expect us to make the top four, though top 8 is likely.

There is almost no chance we will make 14th, 15th or even 16th.

Shoould injuries occur, maybe 10th.

There is a fine line between pessimist and realist, definitely...

However, I believe I'm being realistic, because nothing the Knights have done anytime recently has given anyone really any reason to say with confidence we are a Top 4 team in 2009. Simple as that.

And my ' constant pessimism ' and ' negativity ' towards the Knights management and its business model - well once again, being $3M in debt doesn't really give anyone much credible ammo to suggest they aren't incompetent.

I like to call a spade a spade thats all. Supporting a team shouldn't be about all sweet smelling roses and can't do anything wrongs all the time.

I'd be the first person to give a wrap when its deserved as well , and have done so often on here.

But like I've said before, my support and niceties are easily overlooked when the controversial stuff is more fun to remember... :lol:

Having said that... I do enjoy playing the role, because this place sparks up whenever there is some lively debate - and I think its good for the forum irrespective of how well liked someone is ;-)

As much as I disagree with you about our on field chances and the ability of our playing roster, I am with you 100% when it comes to the club management and their apparent lack of marketing abilities.
