Just saw your email bushy. I'll give it another go, now that I'm out of Asrl if the knights are still free....might need a few days to have a look at everything though.

Awesome, glad to hear it! Formguides are in the pinned post at the head of the forum, although if you left the ASRL over ratings - you'll be displeased

That's why my three returns have all failed. The learning curve to get back into things is just too steep, and if you start with a weak side, you've got a 1-3 year commitment to get them somewhere competitive.

Just got too complex.

Thoughts on this:

For 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 13, 99: sum(sum(Atk + Kick)*1.3/2 + sum(def + temp)*.8/2)/2
For 8, 9, 11: sum(sum(Atk + Kick)*0.8/2 + sum(def + temp)*1.3/2)/2

All had GK / 4 then added to the total.

I graded the increments up as best as I could. Lowest salary is $60k, highest is Cam Smith @ $1.06m. Does this look ok?

The formulas - is there something missing to get to those salaries? (I can't see how you get to those figures - but it is 0400 here.)

I would like to see before & after for an entire side, but I can't make it happen on my Excel until I figure out how to get your formula in it. (Can you send me an Excel with the formula in it for Daly Cherry-Evans, maybe?)

When Daly goes up over $400,000 from the old formula to the new...I want to see how the revised formula affects my entire side...

I'll try to distribute it tonight, Badge.

Mis, not necessarily. I had to change the band for each level of player. I'll muck around at reducing it tonight.

Does it in principle work, though?

Sure, the calculations look fine to me. Will be interesting to see what kind of salaries we end up with at each club.

If you can email me through a sample of a side, so I can compare? I won't be able to do it today as I'm busy.

I'm quite happy with the current formula's but if we agree on a formula i'd like to change the database.

Will do as soon as possible; I'm just struggling with time right now.

I'll scale back things a little in terms of the salary split to pull the salaries back in line, but will publish the whole thing when done.

Should be tmr night. Sorry for the delay.

No worries, Drew. Life takes precedence.

Appreciate the hard work you and Goldy are doing to get things up and running, and the generally high level of engagement from all of the coaches.

Here's a new recut. I'm emailing Bushy and Goldy the full list now, as the one here is missing players but gives you an idea.

That's looking closer to what I'd imagined.

Gonna be bloody hard getting 16 players for $1.9 million.

Hey, Drew - can you email me a copy of the entire Excel - I want to see something...

...but looking at the previous rev of the salaries for my retained 13, and the later one, the salary levels were up just over 50 percent...

...if that holds for the entire database, I would say a $12 million salary cap might be the solution for us.

Mine went up 50% as well Badger. 4m to 6m.

I have 2m left in my salary cap. Over 16 players it means the average pay has to be 125k. The lowest paid guy in Drew's spreadsheet is 275k, so the cap has be minimum 10.4m just to cover 16 cheapies.

$12m sounds like it could be the go looking at that, though it might restrict us to 1 major draft pick and a bunch of juniors/journeymen.

I had to cut off part of the list, as I identified in my post.

The average wage is $338k, meaning $338kx17 = $5.756m to get 17 players of average means.

We'll need to raise the salary cap at least by $3m. Let me do some analysis on it; I've been doing this ad hoc without any idea of the implications.
