What makes this tournament a waste of time? Let's face it all sports are about providing entertainment and making money. They aren't some big meaningful event as much as people would like to pretend they are.
This world cup will make a very nice profit, provide us with entertaining games and it will give the smaller nations a chance to play which can only improve them for the future. Anyone who thinks that is a waste of time simply isn't a real RL fan or is just looking for something to complain about.
The thing that annoys me most about the "there are only 3 teams who can win it" brigade is that they don't understand that the one of the major reasons for the competition is to address that very problem.

That's not what the world cup is about anyway, you can enjoy watching nations besides the best ones. Those are the teams that are truly passionate and that is fun to watch. They can't win it but they show up and give 100% and give us some entertaining league.
