Good hit out, rusty in attack, but defensively we were really sound. I'm pretty happy to get an ugly win.

Attack will get better, handling will get better and we won't put ourselves under so much pressure.

TBH I reckon a tight ugly win is what we needed to start our season. Less risk of getting ahead of ourselves and buying into the hype.

He wasn't great, I agree.

But he's a kid, getting overcalled by Gutho and Moses, and he defended better than half our forwards. And his touches at the back end were good.
Fair call, he had a couple of decent touches at the back end. But he needs to demand the ball if he wants it otherwise we’ll get more of the same.

I liked the aggression at the start of the game but it’s hard to keep it up so you need to take advantage of it. Momentum will always swing in games but you need to make the opposition earn it not give it up on a silver platter.
Our defense was good but as mentioned the dogs didn’t throw a lot at us. What I did like about it in particular was our scramble. Every time we seemed to be in trouble defensively someone turned up to shut it down.
Attack was ordinary and I agree with the criticism of the stifling 4th tackle play but it seems one of those things most teams do. I did like how in the last quarter of the game how we seem to go away from it. It may have been a conscious effort to change tactics against a tiring defense.
At this time of the year I’m just happy to get the 2 points, especially with 4 of the next 5 games being away, albeit one of those away games still played at bankwest.
I also feel like that is one of those games we end up losing the majority of the time. It was good to win a close ugly one.

He made 25 tackles and missed none, massive for a 19 year old half. His attack will come.

His defence is great, both for a half and a teenager.

His attack is fine too for his age. Even tonight he wanted to dent the line when he got the footy. It was really just a question of involvement
