Roosters Out of Junior Comps

Fair enough decision. Though they should be cutting other areas first. It will hurt the juniors... though every club has to do something.

If it wasn't for the Labor party rugby league wouldn't be in this position.

Rugby League has to find a better way forward rather than relying on poker machine revenue to survive.

This could've been averted if Souths didnt monopolise the area years ago, leaving Easts with 4 f**king junior clubs and places like kensignton, coogee, maroubra and moor park being classed as south sydney.

What a load of crap.

They have cut funding because they cannot supposedly afford it. If they had even more clubs, how would that improve their financial position?????

In any case, their junior teams play in the Souths Junior Leagues, so at least the young ones still have a comp to play in.

Surely it can't cost that much to run jnr teams can it? I know sack the aromatherapist, the wrestling coach, the psychologist and all the other unneccesary coaches and put the money into ensuring the NRL has stars for the future!

I dont think it would have helped but im just sick of the bitching and moaning that goes on about juniors when the full story is not shown.

It is what is known as economies of scale...

Nambucca, is near where Inglis is from, Bowraville.

Might help you understand why people are so pissed Inglis considers himself a QLDer..

What did Roy & HG say?? Something along the lines of

"You couldn'y find a more prouder QLD'er than Inglis, the boy from Bowraville/Kempsey"

Look, if the Roosters are really that hard up, then the NRL needs to step in and work out a solution so that these teams are fielded.

I can't believe that there is not some way to make it happen.

The Roosters have pulled out of under 16 and under 18's.

Out of their 4 local teams to chose from, how many players are participating in these age groups....??

This is a serious question...

I think it's a bit disappointing that a historic club like the Roosters have to resort to this to enable a better cashflow. The NRL is treading a fine line. We don't want to lose young players to other sports / codes.

If most other clubs follow suit, there could be a generation gap for great League kids in their teens to play in an elite system.

For the record (and I support Manly), I know one of the junior recruitment officers for The Roosters through work, and their systems are excellent. They nurse these kids along to the enth degree.

What a shame. I know The Roosters are very proud of their junior teams. Their Ball side came 4th this year, and their Mat's team came 5th.

ONe now has to consider that there is now potentially 40-50 kids ripe for the picking for cashed up teams like Gold Coast / South West Syd Academy. If they take them, look after them - those teams will reap the rewards in 4-5 years time.

Bondi Utd & Clovelly websites have no team lists, Paddo have 16s and 19s, is the other club St Charles? They go up to 14s

What a joke...now all it will mean is they'll wait till they hit under 20's and Sullivan will then snap them up...feeding off the money spent by other clubs in developing these kids.

So its ok for other clubs to in essence be "feeders" for the Roosters who don't want to spend money on their own development of players...and then reap the rewards of other clubs development of players...no...sorry...that is not right..

But could these clubs provide that "special" type system mate? I reckon the parents of these kids would want that for their children, and may steer them to another elite brand, rather than having them play for a local park side.

Playing for The Roosters SG Ball, and Mats team is like an investment into the future. Playing for Bondi United, Clovelly and co. may be great and fun, but I think that's as far as it goes. Put it this way as well mate:-

When the young under 16, and under 18 Australian Teams are selected, would the players come out of the main clubs, or park clubs? Basically, the guys playing for Clovelly and that may miss out.

That said, there is still the Arrive Alive Cup, and kids can be selected from there - and Th Roosters have always had a very strong contingent of kids in that. Well, maybe they won't anymore?

Under 15 Australian Merit side and the Under 18 Australian Schoolboys side are only selected from School teams and school competitions not from HM and SG Ball.

The young SG Ball Roosters blitzed the young eels in the grand final last weekend...

I guess a lot of those players will walk straight into NYC under 20's...???
