I would have thought anything that helps draw attention to International football is a good thing. And then the laughable thing is, that most NRL fans on here when getting into a AFL vs Rugby League debate like to point out how AFL has never grown intrnationally outside of Australia, all the while not giving our Internatioinal game any support or dues at all. Nice.
Firstly, club footy >>>>>>>> international footy. I'm much more interested in tomorrows Warriors v Souths game than I am in a stand alone test.

Secondly in terms of countries playing each other, England is going backwards. Only 2 countries count, and even when those 2 countries compete when we take you seriously we win.

The next tv rights deal will be much bigger than the current one. There'll be money to throw at the crap countries. I'm all for doing that but I'm against going 12 days without the type of rugby league I care most about. Without club footy it feels like a 12 day week which sucks.

Rep footy should be at the end of the year not interrupting the most important thing in the middle of the season.

Ok sweet lets move SOO (SOC) to the end of the year then.

And personally I care the same if not more about my country playing as I do my club so I'm looking forward to next weekend more than I would a normal round of matches. But then you Australians have it a bit backwards where you don't really support your national sides because of where the players come from or were born in the country i.e the Kangaroos and your Cricket side where its constant bitching, mainy from NSWelsh people about QLDers or Victorians.

The Test between Australia and NZ has lost nearly all of its lustre from years past, because we see all 34 players every week at club level.

I reckon people get mroe excited nowadays when they get to see NZ or Aus play against someone else than each other.

Bring some test nations over for a bit of a weekend of rep footy.

ANZACS v Europe
Have USA play PNG, Fiji v Tonga etc etc. Televise them all in prime time, gte some interest in the international game. The NRL has done f**king nothing for International RL. Its about time they did.

I'd prefer that.

The weekend after the GF start Origin. Every weekend for 3 weeks.

Then have a few internationals. Footy ends in mid November. Couple months of break. Get back into it late January.

It's all good.

Oh yeah, Toyota cup level footy (if that) is really worthy of primetime.

You prefer seeing Aus and NZ thrash other countries?

The standard of Englands team is amateurish compared to Aus and NZ, and the poms are daylight ahead of the rest.

And you say the NRL hasn't done enough for international rl? Bullshit. Injuries from Four nations and world cups and other internationals can often severely hamper or ruin our preseasons. Doing that EVERY year is more than enough effort for international rugby league.

There is no team in Perth and Adelaide. How about we focus on that before f**king around thinking about thrashing shit countries more often than we already do.

The ANZAC Test maybe, just the way because of how its hurridly chucked in and the players take about 5 days preperation for it. But look at every NZ vs Aus game that has been part of a serries over the last 4-5 years and every one has been good/a cracker bar one or two. 06 Tri series was some of the best footy going round, 08 WC Final, 09 Four nations was a draw, '10 FN with the huge crowd at Eden park and great final. I still maintain a 3 game series between NZ and Australia would be awesome and close.

Firstly, club footy >>>>>>>> international footy. I'm much more interested in tomorrows Warriors v Souths game than I am in a stand alone test.

I'd be much more interested in mid-year test matches if they went back to the mid-year test series we used to have pre-SL (1995 was the last time we had a mid-year series), rather than just having a one-off test and then having to wait approximately another 6 months for the next one. It's a waste of time having them as a one-off. The problem with the mid-year series is, obviously, all the players will bitch and whine about how they are playing too much football etc. However, we did it so many years ago, why can't we do it now? Either one of two suggestions:

1) Move Origin earlier, game 1 starting in early May and then hold the test series after Origin

2) Origin matches should be spaced 2 weeks apart (like it used to be), rather than 3. Hold test series afterwards

On a side note, I'd looooooove to see the Ashes series concept revived. Haven't played an Ashes series since 2003, and in Australia since 1992. I know it won't be possible to play all the myriad of trial matches that used to occur, since the Super League season runs parallel to the NRL. In fact, this is the major stumbling block of having an Ashes series mid-year and the clubs who provide the players in the national side would definitely want to be compensated for this (although we did play Great Britain in a mid-year test in 2002 IIRC)

Eurosports are showing English Super League games, so I have been recording them and watching them in my spare time.

I think this week might be the Challenge Cup - Featherstone Rovers v Castleford Tigers. Local derby and grudge match in the cup. Great atmosphere will be guaranteed. Level of footy will probably be shite - but I'll skull a few beers and enjoy it anyway.

Widnes v St Helens is being shown too

Then next Saturday (when there is no NRL) we have Leeds v Catalans (top 6 clash) and on Sunday at 2.45am there is Wakefield V Salford

Record those - add in the Test and City Country and you've got 6 games of Rugby League next weekend.

Now stop your f**king pissing and moaning.

Boring weekend coming up - and I'm amazed at how many agree, considering the stand alone weekend was a resulof so many people whinging about Wed night Origin.

I reckon we have gone to something worse. That said, any time Parra get not to play is one less depressing thing I have to put up with. However I do have to forgo the joy of cheering on whoever is playing Manly!

People are going to complain alot this weekend.

It amazes me how we did this a few years ago and people just forget about how much it was hated.

Fortunately my life doesn't revolve around League, or any sport, I can and do actually do other things, some of you should try it. Like last Friday instead of watching my Broncos play i decided i would much rather take the wife out to dinner, go for a stroll along the beach ect. One doesn't need to wait for the off season to do something other that watch the footy.
