Kelly has no passing, kicking or running game. And has shown no improvement in his time here. His defence is massively over rated. I feel sorry for our right side.

I actually think Kelly has a few strong points -

A great BOMB
A decent long kicking game
Solid defender
Carries out a game plan

He has always been in an ordinary team which makes a HUGE difference as a half.
He is no Foran but he is fit and costs probably under 100k

Ok, so we are all a bit down about Kelly playing

BUT

to be fair to him, I think he might go 'ok' tomorrow night.
He has a seasoned campaigner outside him in Beau Scott, who has a great mind for the game.
He has a dynamic playmaker in the centres outside him in Takairangi.
He is clearly NOT in line to win a first grade spot, no matter how well he plays.

For me, Kelly is notorious as a poor playmaker, a bad decision maker, and someone who tries to hard to prove that he is a first grader. None of those things should be a major issue. Just pass it to Taka early and back him up, and listen to Scott.

The major concern is his kicking game - it is either halfway decent, or sub abominable. My gut feeling is that it is sub abominable when he is trying to prove he is a first grader. Hopefully he just kicks a bit as a backup this game.
(I am working on the assumption Norman is our main kicker in general play now, ahead of Foran)

Hope springs eternal...

Well I hope Scott is telling him not to pass it to the grass. I have never seen a player pass the ball to the turf as much as Kelly

Not sure if this is the right place to put this but Sportsbet are offering $4 for Parra to win and score a try.

Max bet only $30.

My point is that obviously the betting agencies are starting to write us off.

Move/delete this if this is not the right place for this.

How do we win if we don't score a try again?

That would be his reaction to marked runners. It's definitely a flaw - he should hold the ball and take the hit, or stop and back up like Norman does - but it's better than forcing the play after the defence has read it.

I tend to agree, and I'm no Kelly fan.

As long as we have Norman, we still have some spark.

And with Kelly playing with Norman and not Sandow, he doesn't have to pick up after someone who only plays well when he wants to.

Norman > Sandow

I reckon Gordon chiming in will help alleviate Kelly's weakness. Hopefully he can channel Shane perry

I think BA has gone with the devil you know scenario, he has played with these guys before and knows the drill rather then chance it with a newbie like Cornish and he's a rightie

Given what has ben said about Forans lack of ball work sessions with the side The Product must have had some time there training. Hell do Ok. Whats the story with short term
Contracts? Can we sign Hayne for a few guest appearances?

I'm sure the 49ers would be cool with that. Maybe Izzy can play on friday nights when the Waratahs play on Saturday too

I know with Foz being out (and Kelly in), a few of us may not be too optimistic.

However, i have no doubt we will massively be up for the game. Hopefully big crowd and we lift to beat those muppets from above the border.

As some posters will attest, I haven't been the most optimistic about our week to week chances and performances in the past, but I think we're specials tomorrow night, irrespective if Foran plays or not.

No matter how poor a team we've been throughout a season over the last five years we've gone great first up. I expect the same tomorrow night.

Kelly will be passing the ball over the sideline and into the top tier of the grandstands as usual
