Gus Gould Preview

See Eagles versus Eels
Trust me, this will be a cracker. Sunday afternoon football at Brookvale Oval is the perfect setting for this clash between traditional rivals. The Sea Eagles were again very active in the player market during the off-season and it's a new-look line-up that takes on Parramatta.

I'm keen to see how the new halves combination of Daly Cherry-Evans and Blake Green develops. They are both experienced lads so I'm anticipating they will come together pretty quickly. Young forward recruits Lloyd Perrett and Curtis Sironen will be keen to impress. I think we can also anticipate further improvement from exciting youngsters Jake and Tom Trbojevic.

I was mightily impressed with the Eels in their only serious pre-season trial match against the Panthers. If halfback Corey Norman is fit he will certainly add a tremendous amount to their attacking potency. The Parramatta forwards are tough, willing and uncompromising. Their attitude to defence is outstanding and they'll be looking to place as much pressure as possible on the Manly halves. If I tried to tip a winner here I would only be making it up. I don't know which side wins. But I am anticipating a belter of a game.
