Even that has it's problems.

Say it is a close game. Yeo the best forward in the side is off at the end. Not ideal

Also Kikau is going to be more effective starting to ensure we have possession while he is on the field. Look at the tries we score on his early on

Yeah I disagree. Like I said there's only 7 changes. Yeo can come back on if needed.

Kiks better coming on and running at half gassed half's after caps and Martin smash them for 30 and soak up initial pressure

Exactly the attitude that will see us go backwards. Coaches like Bellamy and Robinson are forever trying new things and improving themselves and the team. Don't just rest on last seasons llaurels.

Just because something worked doesn't mean we can't be better![/QUOTEtball side.
That's an attitude you'll struggle to get traction with fans since they are emotionally invested so when something is good or was once good the idea of change seems like a betrayal.
And when fans get around the idea that a season that got us 17 wins in a row, the greatest season by a club in 60 years, the less of a change the coaching staff needs to adhere. I can't see the overall logic in a doing anything different.

And besides, there will be forced attacking and defensive changes due to new players, that I can conceded. But the overall structures I can't see I.C. in making any tweaks.

If anything major does happen, IE the bench rotation, or whatever other changes, sure,it'll be interesting how that pans out.

Ivan has a pretty easy decision to make really for Round 1. Team picks itself really.

The only Smokey is Hopgood but in reality spot 17 will be filled by Eusinhuth.

But for any unforeseen injury the 1-17 may remain the same until Naden is available for selection so it is up to Momorovski to make every post a winner. I’m not sold on him personally but I hope he does well, we need him to.

I get nervous before every game, doesn’t matter who the opposition is.

This will be a tough game, make no mistake.

I think they've adjusted well this pre season. Back line depth is better so you won't have May to centre again.

My old diesel only generates 83kw - it isn't broken, but with a few tweaks it certainly goes a lot better. Sports is the same, introduce new players, tactics, training methods etc. The game has changed an awful lot from the unlimited tackle days - a time when Souths and Saints just bought the biggest strongest players and just hit it up the middle.

St George did have Reg Gasnier and Graeme Langlands in the backs who would be stars in any era.

He fits what Ivan wants in a centre so from that side it is a good signing

Doesn't mean Ivan has any clue...Mail is Billy Burns could be a Smokey on bench.
Blade has said Eisenhuth is playing, we know Leniu will take the other bench spot. Ivan has said Liam Martin will play off the bench.

So that leaves Billy in for May? Is that really that bad of an option. I've seen Burns throwing cut passes in reserve grade and he's a much better runner than May. I know he can kick too unlike May who I've never seen kick. Burns is better tackler, gets low and cuts players in half like Jake Turbo does. Better in scramble defence, the type of guy to chase a player 100 metres just to cut off someone from scoring under the posts. Maybe he can't throw a long 20 metre cut out pass like May can but Burns offering more than May off the bench isn't implausible to me.

He's more likeable than May too. To me Burton should play bench utility, tough enough to play lock forward and tackle in the middle but that's just me.

Burns is a mistake machine, if that hasn’t improved he shouldn’t be anywhere near FG. May is perfect for the bench role. I’d be stunned if Ivan dropped him.

Also a little disappointed to hear Martin will be on the bench, he was dynamite last year. But I’ll reserve full judgement.

If anyone takes May's spot it will be Burton.

Burns best chance is Martin moving to prop

Liam Martin often dropped the ball in his first 12 or so games. Some of here really seemed to doubt him because of it. Give Burns some time and he'll be fine, you can't train his instinct to score or save tries.

I’m not writing him off, but he should show it’s improved before he comes back. That’s what reserve grade is for.

If we play Burns that means no utility on the bench, that’s a mistake.

If Burns is a chance for the 17 is someone in doubt?

If no one is injured, it can only mean that Martin will picked on the bench and used exclusively in the middle, leaving Matt E out of the 17 and Burns on the bench to cover an edge player.

Change is fine, if it’s a tweak to a winning formula. But if you start with radical changes to what worked just one season before, I’d question your sanity. Not saying that’s going to be the case, though.

We have a new right side
2 new props

So there is enough for tweeks. Anything more is pushing it
