Interestingly, RLW was saying that Blake Ayshford was being groomed for the centre position (obviously back-up). Has he played much centre in the lower grades? From the limited times i've seen him, he's only ever played lock and 5/8.

I agree and as much as Halatau`s form has peeved me off over the past 2 seasons, i would be prepared to give him a chance back in the centres where he first made a name for himself in the top grade. In saying i`d give him a chance, in my opinion he`s fast running out of chances and i`d want him to prove his worth nice and quickly in the trials, otherwise the State Cup could be his best option.
Lewis Brown has that X factor about him, he`s an extremely strong ball runner whom i believe must be in our top 17 somewhere, although i wouldn`t be leaving Liam Fulton out of the run on side to accomodate him.
Whatever the case, we certainly need to give some up and comers a chance, last seasons
same 17-19 players each and every week no matter how badly they were playing was very boring and very frustrating !!!

So what would you put Halatau's poor form down to Vish? Is he playing any worse than he ever has? IMO i don't really think so. Yes for the few matches back from the shoulder op, but then after he has been playing quite solid. His defence hasn't been affected from going under the knife, he is still running the same lines in attack, he hasn't lost any of his dynamic impact due to any size change. I noticed this merely 4-5 matches since he returned in 2006. What i did notice also was Sheens constantly play him in the starting 13 in 2nd row and lock for most of 2006/2007. He was used for the initial game settling period and was then spent when it came to put on any attacking plays. Spent most of his games scrambling around the ruck exhausting his energy. So the trial with him back at centre may give him the breathing space in defence to bring back his explosive attack.

As for playing the same 17-19, that was beyond a joke when there were lower grade players CONSISTENTLY playing well and not given the chance to show their skills at the higher level, when their respective positions in 1st grade were being dominated all year. Also quite a funny observation is how several people continue to name the same line-ups in forwards as last year, when they will be the first ones to have a sook next year if the forwards get pumped again. Some people are even just throwing in Payne to replace Saffy in their pack thinking that will solve the problem up front.

Now as for playing Fulton off the bench for something different, how would you propose to play Fulton in the starting pack to accomodate for Brown(who would only have versatility in the hooking or lock positions within that first grade pack) in the top 17?

I reckon Lewis Brown would be a sensation coming off the bench as an impact player. I wouldn`t really want to take Robbie Farah off the field so i`d be looking to use Brown purely as a lock who could get into dummy half every so often even when he`s on the field at the same time as Farah. I just don`t think we`d get any real value off Liam Fultom coming off the bench ? When at his best he loves to be involved, he`d be the best worker in our side and really should be our starting lock, but could certainly move into the second row to accomodate Brown if he come on to the field.

Yeh--d pringle is from the chip family no relation to neil pringle (the man famous for the try off the brian lockwood flick pass against the bears in the final of the mid week comp) Also ran the town hall pub in balmain before it went after a different market and became a more blokey pub or should I saw all blokes--probably has changed again have not been their for a few decades

I amazingly can remember that ...flick passes in those days were as rare as 4 point trys.

Super coach the town hall is now a yuppy wanker joint full of elwood shirted, trucker capped metrosexuals (queers in denial). On super saturday in winters one will find the TVs showing crusaders v southern districts in the very super 18 ahead of cowboys v saints etc. The place is a den for karmichael hunts, many of whom are in need of a good slap

Bing Pringle was famous for somthing else off the field and it had a connection with the black flash only ever rumour but kept him on the side lines for a long time. Dont know if it was ever true but a schonner glass full of a liquid a similar colour to beer was consummed

Is that why he had the deblitating illness at the start of 1980 that let Junior Pearce have a run ? It's on my local hero DVD , narrated by Graham McNiece. Local Derro - the Mat Parish story didn't sell as many at the Tiger Shoppe

The greatest story ever was around Arthur Patton.

Attempted murder, deceit, police, lies, adultery.

Man, he has one hell of a story.

You`ve pretty much described the whole Balmain rugby league district, hence the reason the Wests Tigers would be far better off shifting base to Campbelltown ASAP !!!

No I would like to keep the constrast going
1 week--lovley old ground on the banks of Iron cove, with millions of good pubs to have pre and post match raps. A great cross section of the community, atmosphere and charm

2 next home game at dodge city (Cambo) Devoid of any charm, scenic views of the acres of factorys. The land of the winnie reds and the red check shirts and the tats with "I love mum".The two blood baths for pre match and after match raps and of course the crawl home along the expressway

The team pretty much picks itself except for the centres and no. 14.

I have no faith in Dean Collis. He is one of those players who has been around for a couple years with the 'potential' tag from killing it in Premier League but hasn't stepped up in first grade. The centres for next year will probably be Chris Lawrence and, maybe John Morris or even Ben T'eo if he has the speed.

As for no. 14, letting Halatau play is the wrong move. He was fantastic in 2005 but isn't in my top 17 anymore. With reduced interchanges coming in, Flanaghan could carve it up providing his defense is up to task so he doesn't get carved up.

You forgot a lot of things re 2:
- the LOVE and HATE tats on the knuckles
- the 6 kids to 7 dads mums
- the cambo frequent flyers who pack their kids and go away rather than packing their bags and taking the kids away
- people looking forward to mondays because the houses are empty (and thus can be burgled)

Well whoever we pick in the centres for round one, they both better be working on nothing but tackling after Christmas, because Gasiner & Cooper carve us up every time we play them. Id be very reluctant to start Lawerance there given his turnstyle showings last year.

1. Hodgo
2. Lawerance
3. Haletau
4. Collis
5. Tuaki

6. Benji Marshall
7. Head

8. O'Hara
9. Robbie Farah (C)
10. Payten
11. Payne
12. Ben Teo
13. Liam Fulton

14. Flanagan
15. Bryce Gibbs
16. Bronson Harrison
17. Keith Galloway

Youngquest to start in PL untill Lawerance is ready to move to the centres and then Youngquest comes in for Dene.
