WITH THE ADDITION OF NEW HALVES IN GARETH WIDDOP, SAM WILLIAMS, MICHAEL AND WITT AND ALSO KYLE STANLEY, THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO REALLY PUT YOUR STAMP ON THE TEAM. HOW LONG DO YOU THINK IT WILL TAKE FOR THE COMBINATIONS TO WORK?
“Its like any new relationship, it takes a little bit of time.
“I’m a bit patient in that regard, in getting those combinations right so its not going to happen overnight. The guys there, like Michael, Sam and Kyle, have been getting experience with Gareth through the pre-season and theres a lot of confidence among those guys. The person I pick come Monday, I’m very confident they can do the job for us.

This was an answer given during an interview that took place on the weekend. PATIENT. This line-up was not created by a patient coach. It was created by an impulsive lunatic

He got run over on the try line to allow souths to score and missed a couple of other tackles but geez he wasnt Robinson Crusoe.

So in essence reddy, he was like the rest of the team yes?
They were smashed and lucky the score wasn't uglier.
Like you say, he was not alone...
Unbelievable decision IMO. Good luck to Witt.

The thing is that Williams' defensive weaknesses were well and truly known, so any confirmation of that in the CS should have come as no surpise and shouldn't be a reason for his omission. He was brought in to bolster the attack. Any judgement of him should be based on that.
Like Soward/Lockyer et al, there needs to be a protective defensive structure built around him to accommodate.

Stanley on the bench will probably see him get time as hooker - a backward step imo and a waste of bench space. Great to see Hunt at starting prop again, that'll help our defence greatly and when Stockwell comes back it'll be him and Hunt starting with Ah Mau and or DeBelin on the bench, good stuff.

A lock at prop to partner one of the smaller props in the comp.
A Prop at lock so we get 60 minutes of dancing around and stupid offloads instead of 45 minutes of aggresive hit ups. A great right edge defender on the bench in Thompson who was shifted to the left in the CS and tries were easily scored down the right. A 30 year old half back who only Greg Alexander thought was good in the CS. Williams who actually set up what should have been a try to Ah Mau by running to the line and giving a good short ball. Didn't do much else but the pack was being dominated. No props on the bench. What is wrong with-

Fullback Quinlan
Wings Morris And Nightingale
centres Beale and Farrell
5/8 Widdup
1/2 Williams
Lock De Belin
2nd Row Frizzell and Thompson ( On the right )
Props Merrin and Creagh
Hooker Rein (Unfortunately)
Bench Ah Mau, Hunt, Cooper and Witt ( bench hooker)

This is why I despise Price so much as a coach. Always playing safety first to cover his own bacon by choosing an old veteran over giving a young gun in Williams a chance. Sure he might have a greater chance of winning due to goal kicking alone, but that is not forward planning, that is self preservation.

I was thinking more along the lines of Kyle shifting into the halves and Witt moving to 9 to give Rein a breather at some stage. I think that's the more acceptable way to use Kyle. But who the f**k knows what go's through Price's head tbh...

Yep... band aid solution, with all due respect to Witt.

Thats right they were all speed bumps in defense, you would have thought he would give Williams a couple of rounds to see him settle in, he could hardly have seen a lot of atttacking deficiencies in CS we didnt have any attack of any shape,Obviously coach has a newmethod every man for himself halves included.
