You come over here more reguarly than you're at home.

Just shut up about the slimes players NO ONE CARE. That or PISS OFF.

(Sorry for the yelling, but I've had it up to pussys bow). Penrith are 1st on the ladder at the moment. The slimes aren't........You don't seem to listen.
HindY is ok.Gives some interesting insights .I welcome all fans to post in our section .Just quietly he cops just as much in the parra section for talking up Penrith lol

Why would you in a close game put someone with zero experience playing in such a key position? It needed to be a blow out to get that to happen
So many comments like this. I think most of them are completely missing the point. Here is some context:
  1. We are in a season where there is no reserve grade. The only way to get match fitness is to play;
  2. We have 7 players out through injury and we have let the Warriors have Hethrington. That leads us with five players to choose from besides Burton;
  3. We have a very young, if not the youngest team in the NRL.
Yesterday, Cleary chose to:
  • Use 7 of his 8 interchanges;
  • not to play one of his bench.
You are all saying we have a young team, so we shouldn't risk playing Burton. Given the facts above regarding no reserve grade, why on earth would you pick a player you won't use if the game gets tricky? He should never have been picked if you are not going to use him because it puts stress on the other players who will have to play more. Why not use all your interchanges?

Tired players get injured more. There are medical studies that have proven this in a number of other sports. In the Daily Telegraph today is an article about this season's horrendous injury toll.This season is going to be more stressful than ever due to no reserve grade and the lockdown, not using your bench and giving people game time is a major tactical error.

It is a major achievement to be at number 1 at this point. I just don't want us to blow it by incurring injuries unnecessarily, something we did previously when Cleary was here.

I'm not saying that. I'd love to see him get some game time. But I'm not as knowlegdeable of his stage of development in positions outside the halves as Ivan Cleary is, and the latter thinks we shouldn't risk him outside the halves in a tight game. And when all is said and done, it is his call.

It's a fair comparison with both Mattison being a half moving to the second row and many people including Ivan thinking Burton has the same potential due to his size. @hindy111 did give our side due respect. Also not surprised he likes us having grown up in our territory.

I was trying to find a comparrison. Another I can think of is Wade Graheme. He turned put to have a brilliant career.

I don't see what the fuss is over Hindy. He did promise to do a nudie run if Parramatta don't win the comp in 2020.

Who can beat the Storm or Roosters in Finals? I think teams who stick to a plan perhaps. A fully fit Manly? You guys if hit straps but I feel 12mths away.
I worry BA coached sides do not improve as year goes on. Stay the same level and that probably won't be good enough.

Yeah I think the trend is moving to a ball playing lock with two hard running second rowers now though which is influenced by the likes of Jake Turbo, Cam Murray Victor Radley and second Rowers like Kikau.

You pick your best team to win.

Was there anytime watching that you said wow we have this won?

For me when Naden took the intercept with a few minutes left when I felt the win was done.

So why would you throw someone out there in a foreign position unless it was needed.

Luai and Cleary will get rested sometime before the finals. Burton will be on the bench when we lose a few guys and have to play out of position.

I doubt a coach plans to not use a benchie but how the game goes sometimes it plays out that way

Once Kikau was out Lindsey Smith was never going to debut. Still a bit raw. That left Burton as really the only bench option.

My understanding of Burton's role on the weekend was. He was to come on to give Nathan an early mark should the game had been closed out earlier.

The little period before halftime where we clocked off, and the Titans doggardness in the 2nd half changed that thought.

That makes sense given how the game played out. The irony is if it was either of the 2 games before Burton would of gotten plenty of game time.

The rain probably helped a bit and not insulting Kenny but no Api really slowed things down. I'm sure Ivan has spoken to him about the plans going forward.

I imagine the mindset there is you dont want him in the same position as the Knights game again for a while. Better to come in with less pressure if possible.

You don't lose half your side and it all flows. Even the tries GC scored weren't poor reads or anything like that. The squad would be in video sessions they would know of the plan.. they would also be in the one going over what went wrong. So I am sure every squad member knows how it is

Yeah he still young and I get the impression he needs to get a few credits in the bank before he gets thrown in tight situations again. His defence is still a work in progress. I think it was the game against Souths a month ago at the end he got caught out for the Rabbits last try.

No reserve grade is difficult. He really should be working on his game there and waiting for his next chance. Or if they want to try him in another position like centre or fullback try it first in reserve grade. Covid has stuffed that up.
Clubs don't usually play a halfback off their bench unless they can cover other positions.
Despite training in other positions only recently he still has a lot to learn.

Luai last year at times struggled off the bench. I remember one game he came off the bench and he got hooked after a couple of minutes.

Spot on.
Combinations take time. New combinations can stuff up the defences and appear clunky until they get use to one another.

I was trying to think of the game that it happened it. Poor kid looked all at sea.

Been real impressed with how May has taken to the 14 role. Even playing back row against the Titians he was real solid.

Would like to see him re-signed.
