Round 12 vs Souths Game Day Thread

I think Edwards has become a massive target for the referees but to be fair he brings it on himself with all the stupid stuff that he does. I mean what is with all this stuff about hugging players when they drop the ball? What is surprising is that he is a decent forward when he concentrates?

Overall, I thought Parra deserved to win the game and if it hadn't been for some terrible refereeing the scoreline would have been a lot different. In saying that, I think what is concerning for you guys is that took far too long for Parra to put us away. Realistically the score should have been 30-0 going in at half time but you guys blew quite a few chances. I know it sounds cynical but the fact that we were so lethargic made you Parramatta look a lot better side than what they really are. When you are getting carved up by Kaysa Pritchard you know you have got problems! Nevertheless, Parra can only play what is in front of them and they certainly deserved to win tonight.

You make some fair points. But if we had Norman in the side, I think we would have carved you guys up. To take Norman out of Parramatta is like Easts playing without Pearce or Cowboys without Thurston. He is that influential for us.

Anyone think Matagi may miss a week or two for the trip?? Mannah may get cited for the high shot on Reynolds that the refs missed too

Suasi "Bitter" Matagi.------I think he could be in a spotter...Only because the player felled the ref..

When you focus on problems,
You'll have more problems.
When you focus on possibilities,
You'll have more opportunities.

Change your focus, change your life.

I thought Moses was our weakest link. But he was good in attack and his kicking was excellent so we're able to cover him. That's why we have so many good defenders like Mannah.

He'll probably never be a whole lot better than Sandow in defence - but he'll be twice as good for our attack.

In the sense that his arms are long enough to wrap up the ball I reckon he's way better than Sandow in defence. However Moses is still a weak defender.

But imagine how long his arms will be after another full off season!

What would have been even more interesting is if those decisions cost you the game, sort of like it did with us against Brisbane. That is what I meant a few pages ago about it being swept under the carpet because they proved irrelevant in the end to the overall result.

Well, I only meant it in the sense that I've seen highlights from NRL.com before, where they show replays of contentious decisions.

But this highlights package glossed over those decisions like they were fine.

I just found it curious.

It was souths, it was a FTA game, the calls were to make the game closer so the souths fans didn't switch off and cost them FTA ratings for the last hour of the telecast.
It's all about TV revenue, thats the main money that comes into the game, they need more next TV deal as the NRL are spending more than they can afford and the players want more money.
It's the reason the Broncos get all the 50/50 calls they need them winning for TV ratings in Brisbane, if the Broncos struggle or miss the finals they switch off. If that happens the TV rights are worth less,
Believe people because it's business and thats how business works.

I have to say, if Semi passes to Gunco after the break upfield - we win by plenty. Same with the forward pass. Terrible call I agree, but we seem to make a habit of being too close to the balll runner after breaks. Why don't the coaches do something to fix this. It is under 10 stuff it really is. 3 or 4 occasions this season.
I disagree. I think if he did then the ref goes to the bunker and they penalize us for a sheperd, I was happy that semi got tackled

Moses (and any half) will be fine in defence as long as he is willing to put his body in front of the runner, that was something Sandow wasn't willing to do!!

Those last 5 mins left a bitter taste despite winning. The scoreline should have been 28-6 it would of have been a better reflection i feel.

Kenny edwards needs to cut that crap out of his game it just isn't a good look.

He is a very good player when he does the basics. Unfortunately he made some dumb crucial errors last night with the ball coming off the opposition line by playing for the penalty. Just run and tackle hard Kenny.

No Norman, Jennings or Brown and we still win.

Add to that two blown tries from stupid passes after beautiful breaks. Add to that Souths scoring twice simply because Moses couldn't run and chase, leaving the runners to do the length of the field uncontested (although where was French?)

I'll take the win and be very happy with it. All we need now is points. Form can come later.

I reckon Pritchard might be the real deal after all. I've knocked him all year, but he was terrific last night. I've also got the feeling that Moses might be the answer to our half-back drought after all these years. He actually reminds me (a little bit) of Tim Smith. Except Moses can take the line on.

Pritchard isn't good as an 80 min hooker, he needs to have a stint, that's why I think we need a 14 for the remainder of the year, his not ready for 80 mins just yet. I have said numerous times that he isn't the answer, but if nothing else is out there why not persist, his shown in some games recently he can play a key role and last night he was excellent, not to mention that chase on Chricton, his got some pace on him, also when he made that dummy half run in the 1st half on the 5th he should have kept going he would have scored! I would keep playing him with a 14, I reckon it could work wonders for us even if his off for 15-20 mins, also his 2 hits on Burgess were awesome!

I am not jinxing it cause we all know that jersey Moses wear's is cursed but he was brilliant last night, loved everything he did, short kicking game, the quick change of sides we attacked from to set up Tep, the cut out to Auva'a before Hoffman scored and when he takes the line on his dangerous, cause he has some toe, I reckon he will be great for us, honestly cannot wait to see him and Norman.

To all you expert analysists out there. What role did W Smith play last night and do you think he may be the guy to allow Krichard his 10 to 15 min break?

Just saw the end of the replay .... i know i have some bias, but f**k me what an abysmal refereeing display down the back end of that game

- two tries disallowed for forward passes ... both would be let go practically every time
- the ball was knocked out of edwards hands ... can say loose carry, but i reckon 80% of the time that'd be penalised
- then they drop it at the base of the scrum, but they pluck a differential feet across scrum penalty out for the first time in 20 years ... puhleeeease!
- then that last try would absolutely NEVER be awarded ... it was so clearly not a try ... f**k me sideways!

Yep, I said it at the time and I agree still. They'd have pulled it up for obstruction
