I'm not getting sucked into this false form. We play Manly, Cows, Storm, Raiders, Penrith. I'll get back on board when we beat the Storm and Raiders.
Until then, it means absolutely nothing.
Great point, good solid win today given the circumstances but needs to be backed up for more wins over the next 6 or so weeks. Long way to go yet but knowing our board, Mary will be extended even further after that.

backline definitely looked sharper with norman and how good is it with lomax being able to pass to a winger .. A bit disappointed that field didnt get on for the final 20 instead of regulation 5 he needs time on the paddock especially if he gets the nod for the storm game . 20 minutes to work with norman would have been nice BUT as another post said its always good to beat the dogs

Our middle was our biggest concern today and with Lats back in favour that IMO is even more worrying.
The lowly Dogs managed to get some very easy metres and some real ruck speed and should have stuck to that game plan the entire game.
If we play like that against good team then we will be smashed.
The smart packs will slow us down in the ruck when we are in possession and will increase the ruck speed when they have the ball and we don't adjust to that and ultimately give up penalties and tries as a result.
The lock position is pivotal and we have to fix it quickly and IMO that fix isn't evident in what we have done thus far.

Spot on. It’s been our issue most of the season. With McInness having one of his worst games of the season it was even more evident. Not sure what the answer is other than to recruit.

Listened on Grandstand on way back from out of town...started diabolically but obviously got it on track.
Luke Lewis seemed to think our fragile ruck ‘D’ will be figured out by better teams.
Glad they got the win today for confidence (especially Lomaxs’ 6 from 6 & the halves combo), but the cockiness from Mehry will be unbearable.
Anyway, I’ll take the win.

Bingo,
The two dummy halves from manly will tear us apart if we defend like that again. Especially with Turbo Tom following them.

Rav had a great game can score a try , but but can't defend ... When we play a top team and not a bottom spoon team then I will make my mind up about him .... Good luck to him , great game today , prove me wrong and I will be the first to put my hand up ....

Norman return helps Dragons snap losing streak

An impressive return from a fractured cheekbone by key playmaker Corey Norman has helped the Dragons snap a five-game losing streak against the last-placed Bulldogs with a 36-12 win at ANZ Stadium on Monday.

Norman was a constant threat in his first game since round eight, linking well with halves partner Ben Hunt who backed up well from his impressive efforts at hooker for Queensland in Origin I with one try and one try assist.

Norman had one try assist and helped create two others, one of which he backed up to score himself, while running the ball strongly and kicking well in his first game in just over a month.

Wins earlier in the weekend for the Panthers and Titans leave the Bulldogs now alone on the bottom rung of the ladder and among the questions for coach Dean Pay is how to address their edge defence, which was tested repeatedly with great success by Hunt and Norman, in particular their brittle left side.

Match: Bulldogs v Dragons

Round 13 - Monday 10th June

Full Time

Home Team

Bulldogs

Away Team

Dragons

Scored 36 points

Venue: ANZ Stadium

Match broadcasters:

Losing halfback Jack Cogger in the first half due to a head knock didn't help, though his surprise replacement – back-rower Rhyse Martin – proved his versatility with some dangerous touches.

Cogger got up stumbling after being crunched by Tariq Sims as he kicked in the 25th minute and was ruled out for the game after going for an HIA.

The Dogs started brightly enough on the back of an early Tariq Sims error, with Raymond Faitala-Mariner taking advantage of some flimsy goal line defence in just the third minute.

It didn't take the Dragons long to claim the lead however, with Mikaela Ravalawa latching onto a lovely Hunt long ball in the 10th minute before the winger found himself in space after nice passes from Norman and Zac Lomax to streak into space before finding Norman supporting back on the inside for a 12-6 advantage after 15 minutes.

The Dragons went further ahead when Norman chimed into a left-side play and winger Jonus Pearson stepped back on the angle to score in the 27th.

The home team were denied what would have been a much-needed four-pointer five minutes before the break when the Bunker found an obstruction in the lead-up to Nick Meaney crossing.

After a scrappy few sets from both sides to start the second half, the Dragons pulled further away when Norman fired a nice ball for Hunt to cross untouched and when lock Jacob Host strolled through the ragged Dogs left edge to kick ahead for Lomax to score in the 60th minute the 16,003 fans started to decide they'd seen enough.

Kieran Foran was Canterbury's best on an otherwise forgettable day and the veteran jagged a consolation try 10 minutes from time before Ravalawa capped arguably his best game at NRL level with a spectacular grounding in the 73rd to ice the win.

Is McIdiot SERIOUSLY playing Latimore instead of the likes of Timm or Leilua? WTF?? Also, we've already established that there is a wasted bench spot for Field. He'll only be brought on in the last 2-5 minutes.

Another masterstroke from the one and only bald-headed goon we have sitting in the coaches box. Nice.
Yes 5 minutes exactly when the game was already won at the 60 minute mark

Norman really makes such a big difference. He and Hunt are a great combo

Our slide this year can be matched up with Norman's injury actually. We lost to Roosters with him, but that was what you call an acceptable loss. Before he went off against Eels, we were dominating.

Having two good halves settles the team a lot, and with a team that can panic like we can, that's very important. We could have easily panicked after those opening 3 mins

Ravalawa is improving. He had a great game, and is actively getting involved a lot more.

Pearson did nothing wrong and his try took a bit of skill. Happy with these two as wingers for now

Enjoyed the win today and well done boys.....but not getting carried away....still McGrexit never ceases to amaze me....he changes Frizz game from the edge to the middle where by Tysons own admission its a lot harder....just what the poor bugger needed after Origin ....realise we needed the win and the for and against but surely the game plan should have changed when we had the game wrapped up when you consider we play Manly next week in a short turn around and gives blokes like Fields token time at the end.....

Following today’s stunning victory against such formidable opponents, there are a couple of questions that need to be answered:

1) How many points will be between us and second place after we win the minor premiership?

2) Who will we beat in the grand final?

Yep the mind boggles ! Still we won for the first occasion in how many weeks ? Happy that the backs played far better then they have in recent weeks , however as said in previous posts our opponents were not really up to the mark , still we need to take little steps before we can walk .
