100% they will want to really prove themselves given they been in NSW Cup the whole year so even if we lose I'm just keen to see how they go.

NSW Cup is running 1st. Guys like Merrin and co you can say it is a slump. Crichton, Phillips and Hetherington have no such luxury. Time to mix up the back 3

Seems to be going well in reserves. I see him as more of a like-for-like replacement for Edwards. Not sure he can be worse than what we got from the wingers today?
Hard to argue with that.

Not sure he is in the Edwards class. But he definitely has potential to improve the back 3.

I agree with most of that. I don’t think Peachey deserves a 4. I’d give him a 3 as well.

Hetherington I thought was good. He spent a long time on the field, hit with real
venom, got through a lot of tackling and made a few tough carries. He got caught on the last twice, but that was largely Maloney and Cleary’s fault for giving it to him on the last. I’d give him a 6.

One thing we know about Hook - he has no concerns about dropping people or giving juniors a run when he thinks they are ready.

Not sure how our Top 30 looks now but I'd bring Martin in for Hetherington. Aekins in for one wing. Ratu on the other wing with DWZ. Start Leota with Tamou off the bench. Much better balanced

Aekins in, DWZ back to wing for next week. Once Mansour is back we have a strong back 3 again. Add Blake with Peach to bench, we start looking stronger and hopefully stop going full tard.

I like this. Peach will have to do some hooking duties though. Egan for mine hasn't really shown us anything as of yet. I did spot a month ago (against the Dragons) that he really likes short side plays and he well and truly overcooked on them today.

With our pack already suffering we can't afford passengers. Speaking of our pack though JFH is starting to slip and his offensive workload has been dropping off significantly.

Our Marquee forwards in Merrin and Tamou are not worth their money. They are playing like slightly above average props but getting paid like Elite (Rep) ones. With key youngers starting to receive upgrade contracts we have to shed one or both in the coming year or 2.

Agree that giving Aekins a crack next week would be good but can't see it happening. Given the injuries we've had I can't see Hook making too many unforced changes that may disrupt fluency.

I don’t know if we were watching the same game, but Merrin and Tamou were two of our best in an overall shitty performance. Merrin kept taking it forward , and Tamou put in a good effort in defence.

We were mostly let down by our backs today. Chricton, Phillips, Peachey and DWZ had shockers, as did Maloney and Cleary. Whare was the only back who was on his game both defensively and offensively. Perhaps that was because he didn’t play and rep football so his preparation wasn’t disrupted.

We can pay 300-400K each for 2 slightly above average props not 700k+

The mismatch in the spine is going to be ugly next week. Only way we win is if our forward pack can really stand up, which is a chance.

DWZ, Luai, May, Katoa vs RTS, Green, Johnson, Luke

Today's performance nothing short of disgraceful. No excuses, we were rubbish and the Sea Eagles while pretty poor themselves deserved the two points.

No positives to come of the game. We are flat track bullies in so much as on those occasions when our forward pack is on, against inferior opposition we can get the job done and come away with two points.

It was a poor performance by all concerned, including coaching staff, so it is a little unfair to single individuals out for criticism although there are plenty deserving of criticism.

Leaving aside the individual errors, missed tackles and dropped ball for me personally it was another example where we are basically clueless in attack generally, have zero structure, zero plan and our go to play, only play is high midfield bombs and we are hopeless at those too.

There's a lot I could say/write but now's not the time. I'll have a few drinks and wait until later today when perhaps I have calmed down somewhat because what I witnessed today made my blood boil.

If you are Fittler and you are thinking ahead to next year, with the series wrapped up surely you'd entertain picking Keary and leaving Maloney out? Maloney won't be the long term option at 5/8 given his age, and is looking absolutely buggered.

Moylan will be the next 5/8

Maloney will play in game 3 unless he's injured. NSW would not have won the series without him. One quiet game at club level won't get him dropped. Suspect he'll be rested against the Sharks though.
