St George Illawarra back-rower Tariq Sims will plead not guilty to his grade two dangerous contact – head/neck charge following the Dragons' 22-14 win over the North Queensland Cowboys on Friday night.

Sims was charged for his tackle on Cowboys skipper Michael Morgan early in the second half of the Dragons' victory.

Sims's hearing will take place at Rugby League Central on Tuesday evening.

I was thinking the same thing mate, no expectations, written off by everyone, even Mary would be relaxed thinking he has a ready made excuse. Maybe the boys will just go out and have some fun and play some back yard footy and surprise us all.
Backyard footy can work against most but not referee Smith and Coach Bellamy..and their big pack of giant forwards against our little pack

If we won, it would surely surprise not only the coach but fans alike.
I hate being negative but if l was a betting man, l'd still be getting the channel 9 cricket commentary team to call the game. Howzat! Splendid effort, that!

Dunno if Lomax is fit or not but he's played every other position this year so why not play him at 5/8 I dunno this game is very hard to get excited about.

This is my opinion on who should be and who more likely will be select in the top 17 against the storm, so if you have another opinion then suck a dick, but I’m open to criticism.

1. Dufty (have no other choice due to injury, but can turn it on)
2. Jonus Pearson (pretty decent)
3. Euan Aitken (strong ball runner)
4. Tim Lafai (best centre we’ve got atm)
5. Mikaele Ravalawa (strong game against the cowboys)
6. Jai Field (if you’ve watched him then you know why he’s the obvious choice)
7. Darren Nicholls (has a lot of nsw cup experience having won a couple of premierships, hopefully he can transition that into first grade)
8. Blake Lawrie (been playing well)
9. Cam McInnes (self explanatory)
10. Korbin Sims (experienced forward)
11. Jacob Host (has been extremely strong)
12. Luciano Leilua (can be dangerous, hopefully can link with Field)
13. Reece Robson (has potential, sadly going to cowboys)
14. Adam Clune (I know some people will be questioning this decision, but Clune has been playing well and has a killer pass and covers multiple positions, especially if Nicholls fails)
15. Jeremy Latimore (the all time goat :heart_eyes: for some reason Mary loves this lad, would much rather Mitchell Allgood who was strong in defence on the weekend)
16. Lachlan Timms (strong carrier of the footy, has potential)
17. Patrick Kaufusi (played well on the weekend almost cracking 200 metres)

Dufty is still heart attack material at full back and for mine, cannot be picked there. For every brilliant try he scores, there are tries he lets in or elementary mistakes he makes which lead to tries. He started in the halves as a junior and needs to be told that is where his future lies. At half back, he will have forwards nearby to help him with defence and no more nasty bombs to worry about.

When it comes to full back play he needs to accept that he is not the Messiah- just a mess.

I know Nicholls is the back up half but he's 30 and not going to get any better. Time to experiment.

Lomax to full back (if fit). Field to 5/8, McInnes to No 13 to stiffen up our defence and Robson to hooker. Lawrie to starting prop with K Sims with Kerr returning to the bench and Allgood back to the CCs where hopefully he will remain until he is shown the door at season's end.

I'd like to get Jackson Ford in somewhere but he's not in the top 30 so he'll have to bide his time. Definitely like to replace Aitken with Pereira but I can only assume Mary is dating Aitken's mother.

The 2 smallest players in the NRL as our halves? No thank you. I get what you mean about Dufty but he is our best fullback option for this game.

I’m not a Nicholls fan. He missed 1000 tackles last time he played first grade. I’d pick Clune ahead of him, but I think Mary will go with Nicholls. I wouldn’t carry the extra back on the bench, I’d go with Ford instead. I’d also swap Lats but for Kerr, but again Mary will go with Lats.

I'm happy with that team and definitely would be picking Kaufusi, Timm and I suppose it has to be Nicholls and Field. Maybe second time lucky for Nicholls. Maybe you could find room for Lovudoa too?

My big question is who's your coach?

No other choice then Nicholls unfortunately, hopefully he shows up and pulls out a classy performance. Would be great to see Lovudoa in first grade, but I don’t see him in the top 17 till next year.

Wouldn’t mind Shane Flanagan and his sneaky tpa’s and steroids at the moment to lift the boys to be honest

It would be good that when picking a team fans know who is eligible. As good as Clune has been playing he is a part timer and not in our 30 so he can not be picked.
Mate it’s all in good fun, calm your titties. We all know Mary’s going to name a class A team anyway

Are we a chance for one of those huge upsets. I hope so. It does happen every now and then. A few lucky breaks here, some energy from some up and coming Dragons, some more lucky breaks some fatigue from last Saturdays blockbuster and you never know.

There is no question our forwards have a big task but atleast we have some experience this year. Lawrie, Luc, Host have had plenty of FG this year, Robson has had a few runs now, Latts and Kafusi can do a job, and I think Timm and Kerr are more than capable.

The storm have disruptions to their five eight, centre and wing. if you look at our 1 to 5 (admittedly no superstars) but atleast their combinations aren’t affected. Field is capable, and although he lacked game management he would have played plenty with Nicholls and their combinations might suit Field better.

It’s been hard but it’s not throw in the towel stage just yet. (it’s close, very close) I’m convincing myself to draw out some last stitch optimism. Go the Dragons.
