Alavaro didn't cover / slide fo that Frawley try he went to sleep.

He's part of the problem as we don't have go forward. Just not big enough or strong enough for that position let alone start the damn game.

A few weeks ago he started in place of Brown and was our best forward, He's got the ability.

Alvaro's problem is he is being paired alongside Mannah, imagine taking a hit up after Mannah has taken about a decade to play the ball????

He's also behind some pretty handy props in JWH and Napa.....it's not like he's a benchy behind Tim Grant and Dave Tyrrell....
Tom Burgess was a benchie 'behind' Dave Tyrrell all year in 2014, despite outplaying him in every game.

If you put all your best middle forwards on the field to start the game you lose plenty if they all come off together.

I feel like you missed the point of the post tbh.....

Only time Alvaro goes ok is off the back off other dominant runs by fellow team mates. When's it's time for him to make those initial dominant runs he gets found out, makes no susbtantial yardage and gets dominated. Sorry he's no prop and def not a starter. If he's te best we have got then we have no hope in hell.

No prop in the game goes well bringing the ball off his tryline. That's why teams have at least a couple of big backs. When defences compress you need blokes with footwork to keep defenders back on their heels and get the quick play-the-ball. Takairangi was one of our best runners in that second half.

He's not the best we've got, but he's in our top 17. He's a great defender and he makes slightly more metres per run than Nathan Brown. 8.7 vs 8.5...so realistically it's the same.

What he needs to work on is fitness. Often he makes a buttload of tackles and can't back up with the ball. That's where guys like Brown have him covered. Brown just goes all day, Alvaro certainly tries but he can't match Brown.

Plus he definitely puts his hand up for runs when no other merkin will and sometimes gets smacked as a result. I love Brown, but how many times did he take the first hit up in the second half tonight when we needed it compared to Alvaro? You could argue that he also gets found out on those initial runs...personally I think that a senior prop should be taking those, not Brown or Alvaro.

2 points is 2 points.

Considering how shit our F/A is, we're probably gonna lose out there, anyways, so I'll just take the 2 points and be happy until the last few rounds. Then, we'll need to start showing some ruthlessness or it'll be a quick exit in September.

Brown is only three months older than Alvaro. Both players would be pretty close to their peak. That said, I think Alvaro is definitely a first grader (no more than that though). Brown should be playing Origin.
Brown probably will continue to miss our due to a perceived lack of size. it's laughable, especially whey that continually talk up a plodder like Jackson.

That said Jake T is a brilliant middle forward and probably NSW's lock the next 6-8 years.

What a hard slog of a game. Very happy with our effort in defense, even though the Dogs had f*** all in attack. Refs were poor as usual - but about time we got the rob of the green for once. Should have got a penalty try.

Moses was terrific - probably his best defensive game ever. Showed some class all game and how good is it to have a half that can kick a field goal.

Kenny "brain snap" Edwards needs to secure the ball when running - seriously he drops it at least once a game.

Hopefully Mau is ok and won't miss much game time. We have had a terrible run with injuries.

As everyone has said we need to strengthen our prop rotation. Vave needs to come back otherwise the Storm will decimate us.

I take the point about our lack of dominance in the forwards, but perhaps we are underestimating Canterbury's defence last night - it was pretty awesome.

Seriously time for BA to grow a pair and drop teddy bear tim mannah.

Last night in the 1st half there was incident where he stumbled like he was blind drunk and let a opponent run past him. It was like he was a spectator and didn't know how to tackle.

How is he our club captain as its absolutely embarrassing watching him these days.

ANZ would have to be the worst stadium to play at at night in the middle of winter in the NRL.
No wonder people are going to the games, fans like tries being scored but midseason at night at ANZ bearly a try is scored.
maybe they need to change the type of grass they use? something to make the surface better it's killing rugby league, the sydney origin game is always a borefest as well.

The refs are just as much to blame IMO.

And the Dogs just love dragging you into a derp off because they are probably the least skilled team in the comp.

While I agree with some of the points about our props being poor especially in the second half, our forwards were pretty good in the first half.

In the second half we were going ok until KE makes 3 or so errors in a row, gifting them a try and giving them momentum and a massive lift. From there it was all the dogs, who were playing for the season and we did well to hold on.

Additionally the dogs were pretty much perfect around to ruck in the second half according to the ref .....

KE doesn't go for that stupid f**ken intercept the game probably isn't that close. Momentum is hard to stop at times.

BTW also while dogs haven't won many games they have given a few of the top sides like the storm/Roosters/Brisbane/sharksa good run for their money.

Did anyone else notice Reynolds attempted trip late in the game?
