We got the rough end of the pineapple with the calls but were absolutely monstered in the middle. How many times did our players get driven backwards in hitups. Wicks as much as he tried almost had a negative run metres total. As much as some of those dodgy decisions give us something to complain about, had it been us that scored in the last minute to win rather than Cronulla i'm not sure given the game stats we could say we were the better side.
Still proud of their effort though

Am I missing something? Wicks made 117m didn't he?

Mau had his worst game in an Eels jersey IMO, surprising he's been just about our best all season.

The non-kicking team is allowed to tackle the guy in the air. That rule is only to protect players receiving the bomb from being set up to get smashed.

Very true. If he has the ball.

If the Sharks had not scored I would have though a penalty for a tackle without the ball. His timing was shit

Are you talking about the incident where Semi tackled the guy in the air while he was catching the ball, which resulted in a knock on but was given a try anyway.

Or the incident where Barba threw it forward for a try?

Or the knock on by Fifita while being tackled?

Oh. I guess must be the first one since Semi didnt tackle anyone in the air in the second two.

Having just whinged, Sharks forwards carved us up through the guts and they were the better team.

I'm not even dirty on the Sharks. They played some sensational footy. Love seeing teams running it on the last with confidence.

The officiating on the other hand is beyond diabolical and it really boggles the mind that Greenburg and Archer are comfortable with the state of it all.

We are still building nicely for 2017 though. Vave gives our pack much better balance and will allow us to look to win the ruck in the second quarter of the game.

I like the Vave signing but i still want to see one more front rower unless Twal is finally deemed ready.

And those 7 blokes are incapable of tackling? Barring extraordinary circumstances you shouldn't lose from 18 blot up. Simple. I'm sure BA will agree.

We might have lead 18-0, but the whole time before that whenever the Sharks held onto the ball they were making heaps of ground and they were always going to get their chance to get back into. In fact the Sharks were all over us the entire match and it was only that 18-0 lead that kept us in the match.

Stats of the game:
They had nearly 60% of the ball
They made nearly 500 more metres
We made nearly 120 more tackles
Missed nearly 50 tackles

Gee they are shocking stats!! To even be in the game with 5 to go is amazing considering those stats.

We were only ever in the match because somehow we got to an 18-0 lead, outside of the Sharks were all over us,

I agree, I think we need another front rower who can give us some good go forward.

Seriously how negative are you ? At least we were able to get to that lead !!! It took some class from us to score those 3 tries !!

Yes the Sharks were the better side .!!

But We took on the Comp leaders who have only used 19 players all year. How many have we used ?

Add to all the dramas we have had this year, in addition to all our injuries ( f**k our 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th half options are bloody injured), the fact we were in the game with 5 to go was bloody amazing !!

Most of the Sharks tries came from KE inexperience defending in the halves.

Our effort was 150% last night, and gee 2017 is looking pretty bloody good!!

Well you can use all the excuses that you want, like you do most weeks anyway, but it still doesn't take away from the fact that the only reason we were in the contest was because we got out to a quick 18-0. Outside of that the Sharks were all over us.

Teams who's opponents run for 500 more metres than they do and teams that miss nearly 50 tackles, are generally teams that weren't really in the contest. Perhaps once in a while you should take off your blue and gold glasses. You might see the sport in a completely different way.

We were in the contest. We only lost by ten points.

Why shouldn't our first 18 points count?

We were only still in the contest because we were 18 ahead. If we weren't 18 ahead when Cronulla finally scored i dare say the margin would've been considerably more than 10.

But all of this is to be expected, given the team we put in the field and the stage that both teams are at.

I thought we fought well, but our inability to get out of our own half for the majority of the second half cost us.

That missed Fafita knock on and the incorrect play the ball (despite being warned by the ref) cost us.
