We were only still in the contest because we were 18 ahead. If we weren't 18 ahead when Cronulla finally scored i dare say the margin would've been considerably more than 10.

But all of this is to be expected, given the team we put in the field and the stage that both teams are at.

And if you ignore 18 of Cronulla's points (the first 18 or the last 18, your choice) then we would've won by 8.

I thought we fought well, but our inability to get out of our own half for the majority of the second half cost us.

That missed Fafita knock on and the incorrect play the ball (despite being warned by the ref) cost us.

Yeah, we weren't even close around the play the ball area. They were making far too much ground and we weren't making hardly any.

But, we had quite a few out and they're building for a Premiership shot in 2016 and we're preparing for 2017, so we have our excuses. We're definitely going to need more in the middle though if we're going to be a chance of a Premiership next season.

Put Mannah / Foran into that side and we would have gone very close against the Sharks.

The biggest problem we had was not having an experienced half, instead using KE. It cause a few of those overlaps due to KE inexperience defending there. Additionally, it put to much pressure on Normans kicking game.

Foran would have made a massive difference.

Agreed, idiotic decision by our coach....

None of us know the reason for this - but lets crucify the coach. He may have had a stinger of some sort, or needed treatment for something. We just don't know.

fmd some posters are so quick to crucify players or the coach without having a clue what the facts are.

Agreed, it's becoming more and more obvious how much we are missing the second half option in attack. Having someone to go to other than Norman is a huge weak spot in our attack, Hopefully Robson helps with that, sure we're not going to see any brilliance out of him, but it's gotta be better than the current setup.

I'm not knocking Kenny, btw, dude is working his arse off. but he belongs in the back row, and is far more effective there.

We are performing extremely well given the salary cap debacle and injuries to the squad. Many other sides (and indeed the majority of previous Eels sides) would have crumbled already.

I am proud of this team and coach.

Agree with all of it.

I didn't say there wasn't excuses for why we weren't in the contest.

Agreed. The boys haven't given up and Im happy with their efforts.

After Saturday night I wasn't too disappointed to be honest. I was glad to go to Shark to get amongst a number of Eels fans and even they were proud of the boys despite the loss. Against a team who's leading the competition, injuries to key positions and salary cap dramas, and refereeing blunders, you cant fault their effort.

Arthur has certainly got this group of players together working well as a team.

Throw in another prop, hopefully Mannah back, and another half in Robson and I reckon theyd go better.
