How so? He’s Clearly got more in attack than Cleary.

Nathan plays structured footy, Luai plays off the cuff. There’s more mistakes in Luai, but there’s also more creative opportunities.
Right on - the rigid structure & predictable bombs get us nowhere in attack.

They go together not one over the other. Luai's place is replacing Jimmy at the right time. You don't drop Cleary for Luai.

He wouldn’t be dropped for Luai, he’d be dropped for Maloney. Maloney plays the 7 role.

I reckon our attack looks better with the Maloney/Luai combo. I mean he’s never going to drop or move Nathan, but it’s interesting to think about.

I said this a few weeks ago, & was shut down by MX (shock me), our back 5 are so crucial to our sets & general momentum. They were putrid the first 10 weeks & we struggled to win a single ruck, which directly impacted our hookers ability to create. They got no space, time, couldn’t run etc.

Now our 5 are playing like world beaters, Egan has room to run. The defence is backpedaling at plays 3, 4, 5 & Egan can pick & choose his time to run.

Katoa would look a different player playing in this current team. I can’t help but think we pulled the trigger on Kenny really early - not that I think it’ll cost us much or he’s a bad player, I just think he was labelled our best option way too early.

He was only labelled that on here though, Kenny has more than earned his spot imo and at the time with Egan being out of form he was a better option. It’s allowed Egan to regain confidence off the bench and build his minutes up again slowly.

Katoa may well be a lot better if he came back but Kenny still is a better option imo, better defender and more versatile if Egan keeps improving he will be the starting 9 soon enough and Kenny will revert to the bench, he offers more as a running forward than Katoa imo.

Katoa debuted during Clearys first stint, he has been in and around the fg team for a long time it’s not like he hasn’t had chances.

Yeah, of course he won't drop Nathan, however, it's obvious what the best current combination is.

It started to look better while Cleary was there, It's just evolving as they go. Judging by what Ivan said before the game they at coaching this.

We look good with Egan at 9 and Kenny floating in the middle. Must be the combination of attack and defence they have.

As I said it's recency bias. Our game against Souths was better as far as the halves go. They just look a bit flashy with Luai stepping.

Scored the most points in a while tonight Bro - some may say flashy, others may say dangerous.

Against a Titans team who didn't show up. Come on context matters.

I'm not saying Luai is bad. Next week should be Cleary/Luai with Maloney rested. From next year Cleary/Luai should be the full time combo.

Yep it works well, Kenny gets over the advantage line quickly and can move the ball through the middle, Egan looked dangerous running from hooker with options tonight, had some nice runs but also some really nice passes that created a bit of momentum.

Our outside backs scored 4 tries in one game tonight, something that hasn’t been done all season.

Im not saying Cleary/Maloney didn’t start to look a little better, but I’d still take a Maloney/Luai combo. We looked dangerous on both sides of the field for once. We weren’t overly reliant on Kikau.

In fact i think all four tries tonight were on the right side, usually our weaker side.

Happy with that. Never looked threatened against an ordinary footy team.

Defense was rock solid. It wasn't the toughest test our line will have, but we dealt with what we faced like you'd expect from an exceptional defensive outfit. Our line was rock solid and on the (rare) occasions cracks appeared our scramble was excellent. Big wrap for Edwards who made two brilliant tackles on the two occasions they really threatened to score.

We really should have scored a couple more. Shit bounces, errors close to the line, last pass just going to ground. It looks like luck but it's happening a bit too regularly. The team still lacks that extra bit of composure, but I don't think we're that far away from being the real deal.

The Titans looked like a team putting in the obligatory "we don't give a shit about this coach" performance than happens in the days before the guy gets the sack. Feel for Brennan but there's no way whatever's going on with them can continue.

I'm not knocking them as a combo but it's very much a knee jerk reaction to a good game against a terrible team.
