Round 2 vs Penrith

What impressed me tonight is that the boys didn’t throw in the towel given all the circumstances.

All the forwards had a serious crack.

Bird/Sua/Lawrie/Molo/Sims/JDB/Burgess/Kerr played with grit.

Ben Hunt’s aware under pressure early was poor. No kick charge down try and we win despite poor ball control for long periods.

Penrith’s fast line speed unsettled the halves.

Macca’s slow dummy half service compounded the problem.

Disappointed by some of the refereeing decisions. Sua deserved a better fate.

We need to get cleaner ball to the edge of the ruck.

Suli is being under-utilised.

Mbye showed good poise. He has already justified his signing.

Better times ahead.

That loss will serve us well … Saints of old would have been lapped by 24 plus… the refereeing was horribly inconsistent but our handling in the first 40 is what broke us… Still we nearly beat the defending premier's .. what’s important is we back it up next week…. Mbye to 9 …. Anyone know the status on Sullivan?

Penrith laid all over the ruck and didn’t move. Last year these would have been rest restarts but this year nothing was given. Or it may just be because it was Penrith so they were not penalised for it. Knee to the head resulting in Bird being ordered from the field for HIA, but no penalty…

Sure the first sin binning was a bit of a joke but we really just needed to hold onto the ball and we win that. Panthers weren't ready for that game to go down to the wire, but they defended really well for most of the game so kudos to them.

Molo and Kerr were big improvers, a lot of our forwards aimed up tonight actually.
Its up to Griffin now to make sure they learn from that, they have now shown they’re good enough for top 8
