Potentially, I didn’t know the order of the tweets. At the same time though, he could of realised the way the tweet came across & wanted to clarify or people are just trying to find something in nothing

Other then execution, was there anything different in our structure / game plan the last 15? I don’t think there was. Im not saying anything to defend Hook, i just can’t see how people are saying we played totally different because the players took over & that’s why we won. We finally executed our plays / found the confidence to execute our plays, that’s why we won imo. Mansours try (& maybe even Blake’s) was I play we’ve ran countless times this season.

That's why I was asking the tedious questions to @betcats. Getting a deeper idea of what is different to see if we can reasonably assume what happened. We can never know 100% obviously without asking the players.

It's entirely possible Gus was doing that so any of those options could be it.

How often do our halves hit our centres with a nice ball in good attacking position? That’s the difference, for 2 and a half years we have been to flat to consistently get quality ball to our centres in good field position and when they do usually the defence is all over them already. Last season our backrowers were scoring more than our centres for this reason alone, the centres are being taken out of our play most of the time because we want to play flat and get over the advantage line as soon as the hooker has the ball. It’s why we can look deadly powering up the field and then completely clueless when we get to the redzone. We’ve all been talking about this issue for years and yet I bring it up after a perfect example of it and I get rocket scientist like Martie who’s never have an original opinion about our play telling me it’s a which hunt. If Griffin decided to pick Leota at fb this week Martie would be on here trying to justify it.

The eagles have the second worst defence in the league.

Said in the other thread, but I just think Griffin has taken this team as far as he can. Griffin has clearly done a good job in helping the team remain positive when we get behind on the scoreboard. That’s the biggest difference between the pre Griffin era & now. In the past when we went behind it was all over. So he deserves a lot of credit there.

Where Griffin has failed his team is the complete lack of a game plan. We seemingly have no decent approach on how to break down a teams defence, it’s pretty much the same plan no matter who our opposition is. To me that’s not a coach that’s going to win a premiership.

I strongly suspect Griffin won’t see out his contract. At least not as head coach.

If he wasn’t so controlling it might be able to work but in his 3rd year we aren’t playing better, he just has a better squad with all our young players turning into genuine rep players.

I think Manly ran out of juice, and they sensed it, especially after the Mansour try. Prior to that, Manly had had the lion's share of the pill in the second half, and they'd found a couple of holes, which they are quite capable of doing, they did it to the Roosters as well. When possession turned, so did the game.

Our completion rate ended at 80%, which is a pass mark. But some defensive problems close to the line and also on the edges leading to the DCE try need urgent attention. The Raiders may be out of the running but they'll find holes if they are there.

FWIW, Sterlo at half time yeaterday appeared to lay the blame for our recent poor performances squarely at the feet of our forwards. He said he thought after the Dragons game that our forwards were the benchmark. Also that now we're basically not playing hard enough.

When queried whether the halves should take over at that point, he defended the halves saying that its the responsibilty of the forwards to give the halves room to play.

I don't know if Sterlo's right, but I'm pretty sure he knows shitloads more than me and anyone posting here.

Anyway, I think this is the point about playing harder, game plan or otherwise. By playing harder, you allow the halves and backs more space an allow "the talent to take over".

Manly melted when the tempo was increased. Its nice to have the gears to be able to do that, but we are back to our early season habit of switching off and when we get behind suddenly waking up and playing to our potential.

We had plenty of cracks at the manly line In the first half, Cleary flat out f**ked two of them up with shit options against the second worse defence. Our team ran for more metres than Brisbane last week. Our forwards got over Cronulla the week before and completely owned the warriors three weeks ago.

Blamin lg the forwards is a soft option, defensively they have been off but with the ball they have been doing their job, the stats say so and watching them you can see it.

That is a huge concern that we are dominating the middle and still looking like the worst team on field.

While he's here Nathan has to be dominant half and allowed to play his natural game. He looks so awkward compared to when he came into first grade. People say it's a coaching thing and I can believe it. He seems to forget what he does well and starts f**king everything up because he's trying to do what he's told.

He’s in two minds constantly.

Thanks mate, but I'll take the opinion of someone of Sterlo's calibre and experience over some over-excited, reactionary poster's.

Fact is, players won't be up for every game and all teams go through ups and downs during a season. We're going through ours now on the back of Origin and injuries - including players playing with injuries when they probably shouldn't be as mentioned by Brandy yesterday.

Is everything sweet with our performances right now? No. But we're getting players back and can hopefully look to build some cohesion over the next few weeks. For next week, I'd be playing May & giving Maloney a week off to try and get on top of his injury.

What did Brandy say? I hope Griffin isn't rushing players back or the players themselves rushing.
