Reynolds would love the idea of only having to chase Soward for very kick. He would be licking his lips. We need a viable alternative half, not a blow in, or a forward like Cartwright or Kingston. They must be able to kick or we will be unable to build pressure and be lucky to score nil.

Cartwright can kick. So can Moylan. It's not like we don't have options.

He pretty fast and will take the line on from what I've seen

Shame Docker has found his way straight back into the team

Thanks Umina Panther, does he posses a decent long or short kicking game as far as you know (sure hope so)?

I've only seen 2 or 3 games and can't remember his kicking standing out for being good or bad. A few of the guys here watch a fair bit of NSW cup so they'll know more

- Great pace
- Great footwork
- Adequate defensively
- Good short kicking game
- Decent long range
- Good support play off the ruck
- Versatile

I'll let everyone else fill in the blanks but he's a Mr. Fix-it. Good player in good form. He deserves this shot.

Can someone give me the good oil on Will Smith?

What's he like - pro's & cons?

I find it hard to do so and I've seen a fair bit of him, sort of like a Craig Wing, looks good in any position but like he doesn't fit in any. Does everything pretty well including defence despite being small, bit of a live wire running the ball, good burst of pace, doesn't do dumb shit. Deserves his shot, could be a legitimate first grader.

Not a fan of the team. Will Smith has looked a decent player in the games I have seen him play, but never really given me the impression he would make it as a first grade half. I hope he steps up like Isaac John did last year and kills it. But I don't think it's the right position for him, or the right fit for our team.

If this is what Ivan Cleary thinks our best team is, we could struggle to get the wins required to make the finals. Something which was all but certain two weeks ago.

My issues with the team:
Back to having the slowest backline in the competition
Only have one proven half, partnered with an unproven utility player
Softest front row in the competition
Only one second rower that's dangerous with the ball in hand

I would have personally kept DWZ in the team ahead of Simmons. Simmo could use a couple more games before coming back into first grade IMO. DWZ has been fine and was better in first grade then Simmo was in reserve grade on Saturday. Naiqama on the other hand... I'd pick a half fit Simmons ahead of him.

Mansour needs to make 250m+ for us to win imo. I'd also like to hear him abuse every forward every time they make less than 10m for a hit up

But then again when are you? I admit I don't read absolutely every post but every time I read one that you've made it all seems to be doom and gloom.

no matter who Ivan picked the doom and gloom supporters would be here.Smith is our best option that means not throwing half the side around in different positions. Would you lot have prefered halves from reserves answer no. We have our first 3 options gone for the year .It was always going to be a tough ask for who ever got selected
All up with the guys that are out its our best side we could select

I can back Ivan on every decision except Docker, he simply isn't a first grader at this point.

I like bringing in smith, yet the whole point was so we could then play Cartwright in the backrow, I don't mind docker but how can ivan mover Taylor from 13? Has played better defensively and there's no comparison in attack. Taylor's ball playing is also crucial with bringing in a new half.

Really though we would have a good shot with Taylor 13 Cartwright starting and smith in the team, but I don't think this current line up can take advantage of the rare field position the dogs will give us.
