We won but like I said the result did not really matter. What mattered that we both got a hard grinding game going into the semi finals.Thats what it will take to knock Melbourne over
As I said would be great to see anyone wi. Other than Melbourne .So see you in the semi finals it will be a cracker of a game

Lol you’d be crying foul with an 11-2 penalty count if it was against you.

Mansour was onside on that grubber too and they didn’t let it play out for bunker to decide. Would’ve been 16-0 there.

Ball was stripped off Tom.

Cook was onside at marker diving on ball.

S. Crichton and Kikau knocks on ignored.

Forward pass in lead up to second try ignored.

Try to go up from 14-12 to 18-12 blatant obstruction.

The list goes on mate, you got managed back into it with an 11-1 penalty count after the first 25mins and you know it.

Even Roosters faithful on social media are saying Souths were dudded.

You have also failed to mention Mr Atkins was became a life member of the Penrith referees association in November 2018 FACT.

You should also know you have close to a 75percent win record against him whilst Souths have a 45 percent or less win rate with him.

Souths are the most disciplined team in the comp and only conceded 12 penalties the last 3 weeks. But with Atkins this year we have lost every game and lost the penalties 23-4.

If that happened to you guys you would be seething your can deny it but I know you would be.

The fact it seems Penrith only had 2 illegalities in 80mins is laughable yet we are 700percent worse give me a break.....
Yep. you are right, I would be pissed at an 11-2 penalty count against us. But I would be pissed at the players for doing stupid shit. You guys are lucky that you get away with the grubby shit most of the time. Latrell and Walker always grub it up on the back foot, Walker got away with a few last night as well, so the count could have been worse.

I'll watch the downtown one again later, I conceded even if correct it was a tough call, and I would be frustrated on the wrong end of that.

Forward passes? Please, a team with Cook as dummy half whinging about the opposition getting the rub on a flat pass is on par with a Storm fan crying over the wrestle. The pass you are talking about was fine anyway.

The penalty against Cook for not square was also correct. He was never square, not even close to it. I will admit that we were rewarded with a penalty from our own shit play, but the ruling is correct. We all cop those both ways from time to time.

Cook wasn’t square? He ran back, stood on the mark, then jumped on the ball, that’s how slow Penrith were to get a player to dummy half, you could see him make sure he retired to marker, it was obvious

Too much blaming shit going on. Focus needs to be on the things that the boys can control.

Was the reffing a bit dubious? Perhaps. But games aren't won or lost by the ref.

The back 3 need to sort their shit out. It was obvious Latrell was losing confidence in Mansour under the high ball. Ill-discipline and mistakes from middles hurt too.

I don't mind the loss. It won't hurt psychologically as it's clear the boys can match it with Penrith. Cleary once again is the stand out when it mattered. Last thing I wanted was to go into the finals on a 12 or 13-game winning run - most of them against average teams - and thinking that their shit doesn't stink.

Our fellas have an opportunity to learn from that and fix up the discipline and errors that always seems to hurt South Sydney teams at this time of year.

no you wouldn’t be, you’d be all over the ref, you’re blowing your own virtuous trumpet by declaring you wouldn’t be pissed off at the ref, especially when the decisions weren’t exactly cut & dry

So facials are ok now? Good to know, because they are pretty cut and dry.

Latrell offside after the Sauce drop, also cut and dry.

If you think Cook was square, then you are beyond help.

We got lucky on the Burgess drop ball, I think it was stripped. It squares up the Edwards strip that led to your first try. The ref's are inconsistent and it's frustrating as hell, but it's nothing new. Your teams lack of composure and discipline cost you, it's as simple as that. You have been beating up on shit teams and lost your shit when faced with a team capable of standing up to you. Same thing happened to us last year. We beat teams up easily and lost it in the finals when it mattered, we just scraped it in against you guys and the Chooks before shitting the bed completely in the GF.

We get the chance to do it all again in a few weeks. The winner will be who has learnt the most about staying composed under pressure.

This is definitely the most salient point. The result last night was pretty much inconsequential. Whats most important is which coach will make the requisite adjustments. I'm confident that Wayne is already putting the wheels in motion to have us ready for the return bout.

Pretty much. Wayne will be drilling them hard to stay composed, the question is if Cody and Latrell have it in them. I'd also be surprised if Wayne plays Sauce against us again. His emotions got the better of him last night and it rubbed off on a few others.

So we will ignore the Luai facials he does pretty much every week and how he comes in with knees into the tackle like he did Mansour last night righteo.........

The call was not even technically correct at all. The downtown rule places someone out of play if they are in front of the play the ball.
From NRL Laws and Interpretations 2018:

Downtown Chasers
A player is considered downtown when:
A player who is in front of the kicker in general play who intentionally advances beyond the point
of the previous play the ball before the ball has gone past him.

So its not being in front of the play the ball when the ball is played, it is being in front of the point where the ball is played when the ball is kicked and passes the player, while also being in front of the kicker.

you’ve mentioned two incidents & rejected my assumption about cook, you haven’t really made a good case me thinks
In further news Koloamatangi has been charged with a crusher, it was clearly a case of the tackled player turning his back in the tackle, there’s nothing the tackler can do, all the tackled player has to do is bring their hand to their neck & it’s an instant penalty & a player on report, there is no indication of force, and no way a tackled can avoid it when the tackled player positions himself that way, I was hoping Souths might fight it but he’s facing two weeks & three if he challenges & loses, obviously we lose him for two weeks for a bullshit call

Some points I picked up watching the 2nd half.

We’ve certainly been screwed.

Early 2nd half Burton takes Sauce high a metre from the line. No penalty

Next tackle Cody grubbers and host is poleaxed by a Cleary escort.....again no penalty. We had them in the rack

not long after, Cook legitimately gets ball when there’s no dummy half. Capewell moved off the mark. Wrongly penalised

Panthers Forward pass from dummy half in the play where sauce gets penalised for escort which had no effect on the play unlike the Cleary one on us moments earlier....why?

somehow the ref Plucked a high tackle penalty against walker out of his arse when it wasn’t

Questionable penalty against Tom to level the scores. He draped the armver the shoulder. Many others in the game similar not penalised

Luai offside when forcing goal line restart

60% possession to them at the 20 minute mark through no fault of our. We’ve been very good defensively

Downtown penalty with 18 to go was the bunker imposing itself for no reason. When was the last time we saw that penalty given?

Sauce drops the bomb with 16 to go. ouch. He had actually been good until then

14 minutes remaining leota clearly runs a shepherd leading to the try. Often theses are disallowed

12 to go. Luai offside then chases and drops knees into sauces head. Should have been Our penalty

9 to go, walker smashed high by offside Cleary. Restart instead of penalty we should have been down in their 20m

Field goal. Yeo & Crichton downtown blockers but that’s ok?

Show me where I said Luai isn't a grub. He gets penalised regularly for his grubby shit and it frustrates the hell out of me. The knees into Mansour was just unfortunate, but if it was penalised I'd wear it. Cody got away with a few stray elbows last night as well, some you win, some you lose.

I've rejected your assumption on Cook because it's flat out wrong. He was never square, he got up after making the tackle and dived on the ball. I said it was shit play from us having no one at dummy half, but that doesnt make Cook square.

I agree with you on the crusher penalty. But hate the rule by all means, but not the ref for enforcing it. We have had a few of those go against us, and as annoying as it is, the refs have to adjudicate according to the rules.

The downtown one also sucks a bit, but it was ruled correctly.

I think it was 2 accidental offside penalties, again cut and dried.

You are clutching at straws trying to excuse the ill discipline mate.

The rule is likely breached every single game, every single week. It's the crackdown of the round. I'll even guarantee it isn't called if Crichton doesn't drop the ball.

There was a crackdown on this a decade or so ago. It seems as though it's back on the ref's radar.

Nicholls doesn't take any part until after the ball is lost so I daresay you're correct. I expect Annesley will have something to say on this one so tune in Monday for official clarification.
