No one said we were a chance of losing any of those blokes if Foran stuck around on $1.2 million under the salary cap for the next 3 years.

Why would we suddenly have been a chance of losing them if we lose Foran but pay The Plane exactly what he was on?

How do you know he wasn't only on the cap for 800k?

I can see why Robson and De Gois are playing this year (even though it's painful to watch) but there is no reason why they should be in the team next year.

7 months before the next season kicks off. Please don't encourage hiney, as he'll moan everyday till then. BA has already stated he wants to address the situation. What more can he do????

If there were a string of quality 7s and 9s off contract it wouldn't be so concerning. But there isn't. There are only bog avaerge ones. And yes I know its possible to get guys to break contract but teams are less likely to give decent halves and hookers permission to break contract given they are so few and far between.

Quite possibly. You think BA is lying?

We have different opinions, that's cool but I'm with BA and right now with all the shit that's happened this year I'm happy to go with what he says.

I think BA is lieing. I dont think he wanted to pay The Plane anymore than we offered him because he believes we would still need better players than we currently have plus The Plane, and he would still need to buy more players to win the comp..

We were never going to lose any of the existing players if we just signed The Plane, but we would've been left with some plodders in other positions.

We're we though? Manly didn't test us at all. I reckon my son's junior team team could defend walker crabbing across field and dce not taking the line on. Don't get me wrong I was impressed with how they handled what was thrown at them last week I just think tonight shows how shit manly were
Tonight just shows how shit we were. We gave up at half time. We were highly unlikely to win the game from there but we didn't need to get flogged. Shortcuts like the hospital passes to Gordon through the middle, plus all the strolling in back play in defence killed us in that second half.

That try on half time reminded us we were outclassed and we just gave up. Hopefully we don't do it again next week.

1. Why do we persist with Terepo? I just don't see the appeal.

2. Gordon...his errors and lack of ball-playing skills are killers.

3. Wicks is too predictable; half the time he takes a hit-up, he sort of stops to look around for support, sees none, and then takes the run (at which point th defense is all over him).

Just my thoughts.

I couldn't agree more. You can't blame them for being out classed but you can for the stupid plays they attempted because of it.

Our middle defence was pretty poor without Watmough as well.

It wasn't as good but it didn't capitulate like it has every game Scott hasn't played. It's the same when Scott goes off. That's another criticism I have of BA, Scott is off for far too long considering he also gets the half time break.

I'm genuinely interested to know what win/loss ratio it would take to get you to change your mind?

I think that's pretty close to the truth. The salary cap shit, having an administrator, and no resolution on next year's cap clouds the issue as well.

I'd like to see the stats on what our for and against is when Scott is on the field compared to when he isn't or doesn't play at all

Im actually not concerned about a 7. I'm confident we will have someone pretty decent in the 7 next season.

The concerning issues are WTF are we doing with the 9 and we need better middle forwards if we're going to be a genuine contender.

If you're out there Pou, at what point do you concede that Scott provides plenty more onfield contribution than Watmough. We seem incapable of winning without him and yet we still managed wins without Watmough.
To be fair, we have only played three games without Scott, and they were all away, against teams fighting to make the finals, while we were missing a host of other players. Radradra and Norman were missing in all three games, plus our best player Ma'u was either missing or playing centre. Gutherson and Robson were the halves in all three games. And Jennings was also missing in the first two games Scott missed.

So probably hard to isolate Scott as the sole cause hey? Or to compare him with Watmough's impact in a completely different situation. But I already said Scott is a better defender than Watmough (not by much though - Watmough was quicker off the mark so he brought better line speed, but Scott is safer and wrestles better). We certainly missed him tonight but we missed plenty of other players too.

I think that's a pretty fair summation of events. There's now a fair bit of pressure on BA to come up with some seriously good signings of players who aren't off contract because I can't see any combination of players on the open market that make us better than the current roster plus Hayne in the halves.

...and yet we beat Manly last week when he returned from injury, against a team that needed to win every game, without Semi and Norman, and also Gutho and Robbo in the halves.

You still haven't given me a Win/loss ratio that would prove to you that Scott's contribution is more valuable's than Watmough's. Also see Chipmunk's response.
