Round 23 v Broncos - Game Day Thread

Robson and Gutherson were the best options available today. Either would have been a lot better 'outside' our primary half Corey Norman.

Anyway our main problem today was defence. Our attack will improve when we get key attacking players back.
I actually thought their attack was somewhat better today, it's not where it needs to be of course, but I saw some improvement there, they spread the ball well, even running a few set plays in there, little chip kicks and such, overall, a better look in attack, just not enough points in them yet, finishing is a real issue.

But their defence did suffer tonight, which is usually pretty good actually. I'm not sure if it's because we fell off or the Broncs just got their mojo back, I suspect a bit of both.

No, I never stop whinging. I love the Guth Bus he tries his arse off every week. But he's not a 6. Hasn't stopped people talking him up as an option in the halves next to Norman next season.
Who's 'talking him up'? I'm just saying he might be. In fact, I'm sure he's a halves option for next year. And if that's the case then yes we will suck whenever Norman is unavailable.

As Forward Pass said earlier it just weakens our backline.

And I don't think it fair on him playing out of posistion I really think he should be our fullback next year and I reckon he would kill it.
Can't say I disagree with that, he'd be my preferred fullback option as well. But he's the only guy to show real ability in the halves that we have right now.

I don't think Bevo will be ready for fullback next year, I kind of like him on the wing anyway.

The Broncos just worked a lot harder off the ball. They outnumbered us everywhere, whether they were attacking or defending. That's why they were able to miss more tackles (24 to 23 according to Champion Data) but still make 9 line breaks to our 2.

French is wasted on the wing, plus we lose a lot with him there.

Id consider chasing Hoffman from GC for fullback. Have French on the wing for one more year with guth in the centres.

7 months before the next season kicks off. Please don't encourage hiney, as he'll moan everyday till then. BA has already stated he wants to address the situation. What more can he do????
I'll moan every day until we sign Cooper Cronk or Jonathan Thurston just to piece you off SMFHYSFDMGFTH!!!

...and yet we beat Manly last week when he returned from injury, against a team that needed to win every game, without Semi and Norman, and also Gutho and Robbo in the halves.

You still haven't given me a Win/loss ratio that would prove to you that Scott's contribution is more valuable's than Watmough's. Also see Chipmunk's response.
And he won't, but he will enjoy spreading it out for as long as he can without giving you a proper answer......

It would only matter if we were comparing like for like situations. Scott has only missed three games and they have all been while the team was facing a multitude of other setbacks. You can't compare his impact with Watmough's other than to look at their individual stats. That's the most reliable method, and even those are tainted by occurring in two different years.

Only looking at the stats is even more problematic because they have mostly played different positions, requiring different attacking and defensive outputs.

I reckon looking at the teams win/loss ratio is more reflective of a player's influence on a team.

I didn't say Hindmarsh was a weak captain, I said he was a poor leader. The main proof (besides being a Brian Smith favourite) was his autobiography.

But he had a lot more natural ability than Mannah and a higher profile. So he should have been more influential.

So can you tell us why Foran was a good leader?
