Only looking at the stats is even more problematic because they have mostly played different positions, requiring different attacking and defensive outputs.
Except Scott started at edge forward, where they are able to make more of a contribution in our structure. And since moving to the middle his attack hasn't been any better. Not even close to Watmough's.

I reckon looking at the teams win/loss ratio is more reflective of a player's influence on a team.
Not if you can't isolate the omission of that one player. Scott played in all the games when we had our top side at the start of the year, and has only missed three games - all since losing a host of more important players.

Is it much worse than the top four spine of Hopoate, Mbye, Reynolds and Lichaa?

You need much better spine players than we have signed up next year when you have middle forwards of the calibre that we currently have signed up for next year.

Give us the calibre of the Dogs forwards and we might get somewhere.

You're right Pou Bear, buying Scott was one of the stupidest recruitment decisions the club has made. We will regret the signing for a good decade to come.

You tell me... Are you arguing Mannah was better than Wicks or Alvaro last night?
Who said anything about 'better'? I just think he's more suited to starting.

What have you got? You've asserted that Mannah is starting team material for next year even before recruitment is finalised - on what basis?
He's the type of player Brad Arthur selects to start rather than come off the bench. Proof? Arthur has never picked him on the bench.

So you think our money might be better spent on forwards?

Alvaro and him are very similar players and he comes off the bench.
Then they're obviously not that similar. Not yet anyway. I think Alvaro is a potentially better player than Mannah, and he might be already. But that doesn't necessarily mean he should start. Kenny Edwards is a better player than Moeroa (and most of our forwards) but he comes off the bench most weeks.

What makes them different? I see a usually similar work rate, in both attack and defence, with similar metres per hitup They both don't bust many tackles and don't possess too much of an offload.

Exactly. Pou was talking about the type of player that BA uses on the bench and starting.

And his proof that Mannah is better suited at starting than anyone else for 2017 is that thus far Arthur has always selected Mannah as the starter...

Circular, and absolutely no contribution to analysis for future decisions and choices.

My priorities would be a half back who can tackle and has a good kicking game (certainly doesn't have to be a superstar) and at least two other middle forwards that will improve our ability to win the play the ball. I then would not have re-signed De Gois and found someone else.

Alvaro plays a different role starting to when he comes off the bench, and puts up different numbers. But Arthur's seems to prefer Alvaro starting. That's what he has mostly done this year.

What have you noticed when they are on the field that makes their roles different?
