We have a win percentage of 88% over the last 3 years, 2 Minor Premierships, 2 (Hopefully 3) Grand Final appearances and 1 Premiership and some of you lot still want to whinge over team selections, our defence and attack.... Bloody hell!!!

I think 15 other teams in the comp would kill to be in our position.

With a win percentage of 88% I'm pretty sure Coach Cleary has it covered.

Not even JJ Giltinan himself would have stopped some of those tries.

Souths biggest asset is their edge attack. And we happened to be weakened on both sides of the field. Souths should be really disappointed that they still lost that game despite scoring 22 points.
Agree with this..

Sometimes you just have to credit a team when they are in song.

Souths are one of the best in the buisness for attacking footy. Cody really can have it on a dime at times and he picks apart outnumbered defensive lines with ease.

I dont get trying to blame sos or salmon. They are fill ins. They have performed admirably in the absence of our SOO halfs.. defensivley they are solid. They lack a bit in attack which is to be expected.

I think if anyone deserves a bit of blame it is too and critta. When your outnumbered you either have to jam in and get someone.... OR hang back and slide and wait for the inside men to cover.

For two pretty experienced guys and rep players that didnt get it right once last night.. they kept jamming up and coming up short.

Id expect sths to score maybe 2 of the 3 but it wouldve been nice to see them shut one of them down. Jamming up and getting no one is never good..

Definately can't throw too much shit towards Salmon and SOS as fill ins.

SOS is no world beater but if he gets alongside Munster in 2024 then I think he will add decent value for the Dolphins. He has some potential just a small ceiling.

Souths need to beat either Cowboys or Rooster to make the 8. They are a very real chance of losing both games. If that occurs and Raiders can beat Knights, Manly and Tigers (which is totally doable), then Raiders take 8th. That would be totally crazy given the Souths premiership chance talk recently.

Best post of the night. Would of liked it twice or more if that was possible.

I know all of us have different opinions, but FMD, we just wrapped up our 2nd minor premiership in 3 years, and the year in between we came equal first on points but only for and against stopped us from winning 3 straight, plus won a premiership, made a grand final and are favourites to win again this year. At yet some fans on here still want To find any reason to find fault and bag out the coaching staff.

Even after we have just won a game against one of the form teams in the comp whist missing our 3 best players
Would have liked this twice also. 👍

Thanks for the complete lack of input.

I'd like it to happen but the Raiders winning 4 in a row is pretty..., well it'd be a first this season.

I totally agree. You'd think by the writings of these 'Eddie the Experts' that Penrith were sitting down the bottom of the ladder.

I get that this is a discussion forum. But some of the statements made are frankly comedy gold.

It was a great move to shift Api back to the bench last night. Bring him on with tiring oppositio forwards, especially when you consider one of his thighs was strapped.

One 'Eddie' last night before the game was lamblasting the coaches for doing this. Especially since Api had a couple of try assists last night, and overall a wonderful game.

Next week I'm sure there will be moaning and groaning about something else the coaches have done.

Ouch!

Champ? So 2016 which coincidently makes your negative posts relative with the Penrith Panthers Team and Selections.

Your discussions are pointless and have no value. You're not in the inner sanctum of what happens at the Panthers organisation. You can sit here and throw your 2 bobs worth and question tactics but when the tactics being used are winning tactics you should sit and applaud but yet you still sit here and question them.

You sound like an old fuddy duddy with a glass half empty personality!!

Come join a majority of us in 2022 mate, its a better place!!! Football wise... :)

What negative posts have I made..?

It's a discussion forum mate... You know, where discussions occur?

FYI I'm only in my 40's so hardly a fuddy duddy.

We're the bestest team in the whole world! Everything we do is perfect and there is absolutely no need to discuss things that could improve our team...

Did I do it right?
Agree on the first point... Happy we found an understanding!!

40's? So high 40's I presume otherwise you would of said early 40's. Is this when Alzheimer's kicks in as your first post to me was negative and I'm far to busy to go back through the posts to highlight all your terrible and uneducated comments.

Long time observer of this forum and I just laugh at the dribble from some people

If Cleary followed the advice of this forum he’d be chopping and changing things every week and we’d have a win percentage similar to the Matt Elliot days. Everyone can discuss what they want, but when we beat an almost full strength South’s team that’s been on a run with last nights team maybe it’s time to sit back, have a drink and realise that most people on this forum don’t know shit about Rugba Leeg

Also while we are at it. Can we please go back to the discussion a few years back where the best halfback in the game should get shifted to 9?

A really good game to watch. Plenty of intensity as we get to the business end of the year and some brilliant football, especially from South's. A couple of points:

• We bag Ivan for his use of the bench, but the results speak for themselves. We keep winning. Last night his latest bench trickery was to play the starting props Leota and Eisenhuth (37m and 23m) for less minutes than the bench props Leniu and Hopgood (33m and 41m). The starters did the tackling and the benchies did the running.

Did it work? Well, Leniu was getting 11m a run with 8 runs for 91m and 77m post contact! His play the ball speed was the fastest in the team. They had no answer to his intensity and he made 16 tackles for no misses. He can really be one of the best props in the game when he matures. Moses is just keeping his spot warm.

• I thought Salmon looked really distracted last week. The whole pathetic Stuart saga got to him. This week I thought he was indeed “God Plod” (thanks Martielang). He is no Luke Walsh. He will take the tackle and did it many times when Souths had moved up to shut out the right edge, a repeated tactic by them. He is deceptively strong because they tackle him and he manages to “plod” forward with 44m post contact out of 100m running. I thought his judgement at choosing not to pass was really good. If it was his fault the edge was found wanting, he is obviously a good listener because in the second half the breaks on the edge were restricted.

• Staines on the bench made sense to me, especially against South’s. He can play fullback five eight and wing. With Salmon already playing, there is nobody on the bench with the speed to cover injured backs. Chris Smith offers nothing that Hopgood doesn’t already have. If a winger was hurt, imagine having Smith in the centres with Walker directing traffic? Makes you break out in a sweat just thinking about it.

• We sometimes forget that this is May and Tagos first year in first grade. Once again, they were magnificent, taking the tough runs, getting the yardage and sticking their tackles. May had 5 tackle breaks as well. They are absolute guns and I agree that Tago and May are currently better than Crichton and To’o who are a bit down on form. I would like to rest them so their bodies can have a bit of respite from a massive effort this year. They don’t have the years of conditioning to help them cope with the wear and tear.

• Yeo. We are not worthy. 45 tackles 100%. 173m. He washed the coach’s car and cooked dinner for the team after the game too. Probably…..

• Liam Martin was awesome. Tackle stats don’t measure how much they hurt. He hits hard and sometimes he misses because he tries to smash people. You can see players looking out for him, hoping to avoid him. Missing the two tries was neither here nor there. He put himself in a position to score because of his desire, a desire he showed for the full 80 minutes. The try was the least he deserved.

• I thought the Kenny ploy worked perfectly. Api made a difference when he was on because he was nice and fresh. Maybe there is our template for next year with a Kenny, Luke rotation.

Finally, well done boys, an awesome effort. If you had said we could win the JJG with Cleary only playing 14 games and Luai 16 games, I would have said you were crazy and arrogant. "Nobody can win the JJG with their starting halves missing a third of the season. You are a fool" I would have said. My Schultz defence is "I know nothing".

Ivan said in the press conference they could've been better so he's one of us
