Like the time Edwards gave him a bludger of a ball 1st tackle off a scrum doing his best Moylan impersonation?

Or the 5 or 6 times he was pushed into touch? Lets not re-write history here.

He was struggling both in involvement and handling. So is having a few weeks off he more than likely is back for the finals just needed a freshen up like most rookies do

Staines is in our top 2 finishers at the club with To'o. If ye goes into touch everyone would.

This is my take too.

And while it's obvious he has some improvement in him, the sandbagging going on in this place over the past fornight has been pretty ordinary. (Not necessarily aimed at you @franklin2323)

Especially when coupled with the calls to replace him permanently with Taylan May on the back of one performance. Just like it was premature last season to expect Staines to replace Mansour based on his 6 tries in 100 minutes, it's equally premature to expect May to replace Staines this season. May will benefit from a full offseason with the NRL squad. And if we have a tough decision to make for Rnd1 next year so be it.

I'm with @WestyLife, I like the balance of To'o and Staines. Having two metre eaters would work for some games, but would also lessen the involvement of other players. Just like having Staines speed (in attack and defence) works well against certain teams. And Staines has done a fantastic job against JAC so far across 2 games.

I'm happy for Momirovski, Naden, May and Jennings to get game time to stay fit and when injury strikes, but I think we're doing ourselves a disservice by moving Critta to the wing, and are weakening 2 positions.

Not always. Sometimes straighting up and taking the tackle is the better option all part of working on his game

For the record I have no issue with him having games off for a rest, reset, reminder he needs to earn a spot whatever is happening. We aren't on opposite sides of that at all.

Agreed Crichton is our best right centre by far even if you rate Momo.

Ivan doesn't seem to want what Staines provides. We've needed better depth in the position, particularly someone who can play the To'o role. I've always been of the view that we screwed that relationship and we could have managed to keep him in the depth position he probably belongs in at this point.

Sauce would have been a handy back up for To'o but that's it. Not in the best 17.

He is playing first grade at Souffs and they can go deep into the finals. At Penrith he'd be watching from the sidelines unless one specific player was injured. It was definately the right time to move on.

I don't see an alternative future where he stays at Penrith. Even if he did he is an obvious candidate for a mid-year release. And it would have happened just before our injury to To'o occured.

I get that. Which is why I try to keep the convo going and keep it all balanced.

I said pre season he'd struggle to play the whole season. The fact it took this long before he was sent for a rest is a good achievement.

Young guys often go in and out of FG for a few seasons. What made it hard harder here is no NSW Cup last season or now so it may lead to being out for longer but Ivan would of told him the issues and he'd be working on it over the rest of the season and the next pre-season.

As for May. He can play in other positions and Edwards still to be locked up no guarantee he is even going to take Staines spot he may end up taking Edward's or Toó goes to Centre.

Being young and versatile helps

To'o isn't moving anywhere for 5+ years. Best winger in the game
