Aitken, Lafai and Nightingale will, as usual, be picked. Why oh why not give at least one of Herbert or Lomax a run? Strong mail Herbert is leaving and Dufty is not signed long term. As for Mary he still has one more year to go on his contract and the Club seems to think they can't afford to pay him out. Bleak, it looks bleak.
Wasted years , He seems very arrogant to me . He actually thinks he can coach . At this stage of the comp like I have said before we are the worst performing team .

I'll be watching the game on Saturday night on my own because my daughter is having her Hens night with my wife & other daughter's going along for the ride. I think I'm going to play it safe & have Help line's number handy in case I need to talk to someone.
My advice is put a wig on and a dress and gate crash the hens night....because it will be a waste of time watching the game its a foregone conclusion

Widdop injury main concern for Dragons

The Dragons remain bullish about their chances of returning to the all-important top four in time for the finals despite copping a 40-4 thrashing from cellar dwellers Parramatta and sweating scans on skipper Gareth Widdop.

Widdop left the field late in the first half with a dislocated right shoulder that medical staff were able to pop back into place in the dressing rooms.

While St George Illawarra are hopeful the English five-eighth's injury is not a season-ending one, coach Paul McGregor could offer no further update on Widdop other than: "We will know a lot more tomorrow afternoon."

With the Dragons once more slipping into the late-season malaise that has seen them fall starkly down the ladder in each of the past three seasons, both McGregor and hooker Cameron McInnes launched on to the front foot when questioned about their top four prospects.

No team has won a premiership from outside the top four in the NRL era, and with this latest loss dropping his side to fifth place for the first time in 2018, McInnes vowed to prove the critics wrong over the last three weeks of the regular season.

"Individually we need to have at ourselves," he said.

Match Highlights: Eels v Dragons - Round 22, 2018

"But we've got a great team here. People might want to write us off, but we're not fazed at all. We've got three games left and if people want to say 'it's scary not to be in the (top) four', well we will be back. We have all the confidence in the world."

The Dragons were never really in the hunt against a resurgent Eels outfit and did themselves no favours by conceding seven straight penalties inside the first 30 minutes, the last of which saw McInnes sin-binned for repeat infringements.

He said he had received prior warning from the referees, but neither he or McGregor looked to blame the officiating for the heavy loss.

Instead discipline will be a key focus for McGregor as he picks his team up to face Wests Tigers in a week's time, aware that the Dragons annual post-Origin slump will be the topic of unwanted media attention throughout the lead-up.

"You can't close down the environment around them," McGregor said. "What you can do is limit what they read and what they hear.

"We've got a few players down on confidence. That can happen. So we've got to make sure we manage that well, regroup come Monday and get to work because that's not acceptable.

"You're playing against a team that's running 16th and they've put a score on you so I'm just disappointed with some areas of our game at the moment that we need to fix."

Putting a a score on us? Understatement of the decade. Any idea how bad Widdop's injury is GS?

Apparently they popped the shoulder in while in dressing room...scans tomorrow ? Dragonsamy will know more...It will depend on what happens to the ligaments...Sterlo stated that these type of injuries can impact on a players passing game...I guess time will tell....

I bet the coach plays him if he is desperate...could be a silly move but time will tell....either way we are in a massive hole...you better pencil in more KFC for next sat because it may be the only joy you get next weekend...LOL

At this point injuries might work in our favour. It's clear McGregor is not going to rest anyone in the lead up to the finals, so nothing will be fixed regarding the teams fatigue and tiredness.

So when Vaughan and Widdop come back after a forced rest, they'll be a better player than if Mary just pushed them every week.

True, but still a chance we wont be there.

Destiny is in our hands. If we don't make it, it will be entirely our fault. Same as last year.

Probably don't deserve it, based on the past few months, but will take it.

Irrespective of what happens for the rest of the year, mary just simply has to go.

Taking the emotion out of any prediction and looking at the stats of past 3 weeks - we are NO chance against Tigers but i do expect a better effort so a loss of 1-12 will be most likely , then Bulldogs its a line ball and then Newcastle in Newcastle is no chance as well - so expect us to scrape in at position 7 or 8...after predicting these morons to make the GF !!
Need to find a 5/8 pretty quickly and its not Mann....

As much as I'm still gutted watching that crap dished up on Saturday night, the only way is up from that performance.
After the Bunnies loss a few months back we have been like an open cut that won't heal. Saturday night the bandaid got ripped off and the septic infection was witnessed by all, and it was ugly.
The Tigers are favourites this weekend in front of a full house at Leichhardt so they are expected to win.
That massive kick in the ass was just what was needed rather than all those close losses in which the Coach would justify. We were not in that game last week after the 3rd minute.
I'm confident of not only a better showing this weekend but I actually think we will win with troops down.
LAM MOTM, Dragons 13 plus.
And before the questions come my way it's a public holiday up here in North Brisbane today and I have already started drinking.

I agree with mickeylane about Mann. While I think we have helped destroy him as a player since he came to Saints, I do think he has talent. He is a centre though and plays nervous and shaky in the halves. He should be in the centres replacing turnstile Aitken (harsh I know but I am tired of him continually setting up tries for our opponents). Who should play 5/8 for us ????? God I don't know. Field - no, can't tackle at all, Sailor - no too young, maybe back to the NSW Cup guy who was shown up badly the only time he played.......shit.

I would throw Field in. Nothing to lose.
If we dominate field position, he will be dangerous in attack.
Maybe in defence, Sims or one of the backrowers can look out for him same way we did for Soward.
I agree Mann's best position for us now would be in the centres.
