It’s pretty amazing that JD won the reserve grade comp ( for the second time ) then gets booted out while Macwreckit stays

Now there are rumors that Head will gone after a very good year

And ... god forbid , they are still saying Mary is safe for 2020 ( I hope not )
You are right to a point but lets see how Head handles the semis this time round...for me we flopped and spluttered especially in defence a bit.... and were lucky in the 1st game last year against the jets..i think try at the death
and errors etc killed us in the 1st half last year..then the Bulldogs ran away with it in the 2nd until a last 10 min fight back but the damage was done

Do you think he continues selecting the same flogs week after week out of spite? Because I honestly can't see any other justification considering they continue to let him down on the field...
Blokes a f**king useless tool!
Massive ego
Determined to prove everyone wrong at all costs.
He's the club legend and now a "career" coach.
Idiot fans are not going to tell him how to suck eggs.
Worst possible scenario for the Team and the future - having this guy at the helm.

The St George Illawarra Dragons come up against the Wests Tigers on Father's Day clash at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Before the match unfolds, take a look at some of our favourite encounters against the Tigers.

St George Illawarra Dragons 13 defeated Wests Tigers 12
Preliminary final. September 25, 2010.
ANZ Stadium

The Dragons booked their place in the 2010 decider with this nail-biting victory witnessed by over 71,000 fans.

Early attack from the Tigers put them on the front foot, scoring the opening try via Lote Tuqiri. Dragons forward Jeremy Smith was able to wrestle his way into the in-goal late in the half to level the scores. But a try to the Tigers just before the break left the Dragons chasing a 12-6 deficit in the second half.

The Dragons went up a gear in the final period and showed the determination that would eventually win the competition. It took just nine minutes for the Dragons to hit back in the second half through Dean Young, following a length of the field Mark Gasnier break.

The match fell into a hard-fought and gritty defensive display before a Jamie Soward field goal seven minutes from full-time proved the decisive blow.

When you look up thrashing in the dictionary, there’s a photo of this match underneath. The nine-try rampage delighted the 17,000 Red V fans packed into Oki Jubilee Stadium as they watched Mark Gasnier produce one of the finest displays of his career.

The Dragons never looked like losing, scoring early in the match and building a 22-0 lead at the break. But it was the heroics of Mark Gasnier crossing for four tries which set the Dragons apart.

In the joint-venture's biggest ever victory over the Wests Tigers, Gasnier was unstoppable down the flank with Matt Cooper, Ben Creagh, Mark Riddell, Ashton Sims, and Dean Young also joining the try-scorers list.

But equally as pleasing, the Dragons' defensive line never faltered to keep the Tigers to nil.

Round 23. August 18th, 2018
Leichardt Oval

The Dragons forward pack found their groove off the back of a star performance from Luciano Leilua, to silence the black and orange home crowd and secure their finals ticket.

Both sides were locked in an arm wrestle at the end of 40 minutes, with a lone Jordan Pereira try the only points on the board. Despite the Tigers finding their first points early in the second half, the Dragons started to streak away with the match.

Kurt Mann had a career-best game for the Red V, stepping up when Ben Hunt was sin-binned midway through the second half. Leilua's 63rd minute try gave the Dragons some breathing space before Tyson Frizell crashed over to put the final nail in the coffin.

Five things: Round 24 v Tigers

A massive day is planned on Sunday to celebrate the Red V careers of both Jeremy Latimore and Gareth Widdop as well as Father's Day. Here are the five things you need to know before our last home game of the year.

#ThanksGaz and #ThanksJerry

Five-eighth and captain Gareth Widdop, and fan-favourite Jeremy Latimore will both run out for the final Dragons home game on Sunday.

At 32, Latimore is hanging up the boots after a career spanning 11 years and five different clubs. While Widdop jets off to his home country to see out his career in the English Super League.

As captain, Widdop has been an integral part of the Dragons since he joined from the Melbourne Storm in 2014, winning the Red V Members Player of the Year award (2014-15) and the Dragons Medal in 2017.

With a combined 180 games of appearances in the red and white, the Dragons will say thank you on Sunday with face masks handed out around the ground, and a special post-match presentation.

Final home game

The Dragons season is drawing to a close with two games left to play before attention turns to next year.

Sunday's clash with the Tigers at the SCG is the final home game of 2019 and the last chance to see the Dragons in Sydney this year.

Before the Dragons fly to the Gold Coast next week to take on the Titans in the last outing of the year, their attention will be focused on spoiling the Tigers' finals ambitions.

The Tigers are still an outside chance of making the top eight, but a loss to the Dragons will be a significant blow for their season.

Sydney Cricket Ground record

Historically, the SCG has been a happy hunting ground for the Dragons. But the same cannot be said for the Wests Tigers who have a mediocre record at the ground.

The Dragons have won eight of 13 matches at the SCG since 1999 giving them a 63 per cent win rate at the venue. The Tigers have managed to win just one of five matches at the ground.

Father's Day

Sunday is a special day not just because the Dragons are playing their last home game of the year, but also because it's Father's Day.

Many of the playing group are fathers themselves and will have their children in attendance, giving them some extra motivation to finish the match on top.

To celebrate Father's Day, the Dragons are offering two for one general admission 'take your dad for free' ticket offer which is available for pre-purchase and also at the box office on game day.

Historic curtain raiser

Warming up the crowd on Sunday will be a historic match between the Score Dragons and their Canberra counterparts, the Score Raiders.

The Score Dragons were established six years ago to include people with disabilities into a local rugby league competition in the Illawarra.

It has since grown from strength to strength and Sunday's curtain-raiser is a major step forward, playing an interstate team at the SCG for the first time.

Check out the Score Dragons' line-up and make sure you get down early to cheer them on and witness the action!

Anyone notice the betting odds have been slowly moving away from the Dragons? Not by much but in a good direction.

I desperately want the Spoon Bowl in Round 25. 15th and 16th to battle it out and when Titans win they can pull a McGregor and say the results mean they are the real 15th.

A few reasons why I'm not going :

1) McGregor's inept "coaching"
2) Not making an 11 hour round trip to watch a dispirited squad go through the motions and get beaten hollow by (yet another) side with an inferior roster.
3) Not making an 11 hour round trip to watch ONE F#CKING GAME. Gates open at 3pm, game starts at 4,05. Canterbury Cup / Jersey Flegg couldn't have been scheduled for the same venue?

I'm not sure I'm even going to watch it on telly cos the coffee table only just survived the last few games.

Sap58,
what i cant believe is supercoach mentions a few weeks ago Lomax wants to play fullback SO of course natural thing is PICK HIM ON THE WING !!! not even in his proper position of centre.. Surely Lomax should be in Aitkens spot and give rav the wing spot .Unfortunately when you look at CC team the centres are runciman and marsters So lafai and aitken have no body to put pressure on their positions with Lomax being forced to play out of position,,, And Rav at 18th man ??? Kerr should be in for kaufusi as he was mentioned as next cab off the rank by supercoach a week or 2 ago .. Should be a royal commission as to how Timm is continually overlooked . BUT hey we are promoting Lats last "home" game and giving out Lats masks ( reading game day info ) Can hardly wait for the final farewell tour stop of Cbus then we may get Kerr in the 17
Yeah like Lats is a dragons junior and one club player !!!! FFS !!
Couldn't think of anything else to take the attention of the real issues i guess, so let's go with Banning Flags and Lats last game and again The real issues get buried.
If nothing else we have a great damage control management team.

SCG will conditionally allow banned anti-McGregor signs

Spicy Red V banners get green light

They might not be welcome at Kogarah Oval but anti-Paul McGregor signs will be green-lighted at the SCG on Sunday when the Dragons take on the Roosters.

As long as they meet safety and size requirements and don't obstruct spectator viewing, the 'Fail Mary' and 'Step Down McGregor' banners will be allowed in.

While the famous old ground, which played host to St George's famous 11-year premiership run, will permit the signs, the welcome wasn't so warm at Kogarah last Saturday.

Lifetime Dragons fan George Youssif was turned away after attempting to enter the ground with the banners.

He was told the signs had to be registered despite having no problem in the past bringing them in.

George Rivers Council, which oversees the ground, refused to say whether the Dragons had demanded the anti-McGregor signs be blocked.

A spokeswoman told The Repeat Set: "All banners must be registered with the St George Illawarra Dragons. This is a consistent condition of entry for all hirers of the stadium. The banner(s) was not registered prior to the game."

Youssif remains convinced he was censored but is appreciative of the SCG Trust's stance.

He told TRS: "They obviously know how to run a sporting event at the SCG and aren't into gagging fans. I applaud them.

"This is a peaceful protest and I have a right to voice my opinion, as do all Dragons fans."
