I think some edwards fans on this forum always knew this.

So many last year wanted critta or staines in the 1..

Im so happy to see him get the credit he deserves. Fans and commentators are seeing how good he is..

He will never win awards. He will never be a turbo..but man he has just been so good for us..

I think we definitley dont win or even get to the gf last year if not for him. And on a broken foot.

Yeo, cleary and api get all the plaudits. But dyl is the real unsung hero. Has been for a long time.

He is the most underated player in the whole comp..and im happy for him to stay that way.

Bennett and his team want to chase ponga or walsh for a mil and we can keep dyl for 500. Hes better at half the price. We are getting a steal..

Best part is he loves penrith, loves the boys and is a real team man.

It is why I don't see the point in keeping someone to take over. Critter can play FB. Get another that can fill in but fills over holes and better squad balance.

That is my issue we the roster this year

You need depth guys.

Having someone like Turuva is good because he can just slot in should you need it
Id be very suprised if turuva isnt picked up by the dolphins.

Hate to say it. But im tipling bennet and his team will be watching every nsw and qld cup game this year..

And turuva has nrl star written all over him.

He might not go but id be suprised if we dont lose one or two stars to them.

We are killing it in all grades. Bennett will be hunting..especially given the fact theres no real marquess left..

I think he will hunt gun rookies..

I still think we must keep turuva.

He played centre growing up in schoolboys.

He is the most likely star we have. But im worried others will be sniffing. And given hes stuck behind may, staines, edwards, too, tago... i think we might be in trouble..

But hes the one we must keep

I have him about equal with Gutho. Gutho maybe slightly ahead with the ball and Dylan in front without it. If the contracts that you mentioned are somewhere near accurate, then bang for buck Edwards is hard to go past. I just wish he was a bit more durable. Maybe this year he gets a good injury free run.
To be honest, i have no idea on contract amounts..

Those figures are just some ive read im the media..but they havr no idea either..

Yeah i hope he can stay fit..hes intergral to the team..

No Bennett only goes for old guys.

The club has done heaps off field.
The lower graders I have spoken too know where they stand and want to wait

Demote him to where?

His work in organising the defence is the best in the game. His metres out of trouble are pretty valuable as well. The kids will have to wait to get a shot at his spot and if they leave to get one elsewhere, then so be it imo.
He is injury prone. I would be gutted if Staines left.

I will admit I underestimated how much Edwards hard work would make up for skill shortfalls and evolve his game over the years

Dylan is actually throwing passes he wouldn't pull the trigger on for the last 2 years. He and the staff have obviously worked on this massive weakness over the off season. I'm a Staines fan but the only way he's playing fullback at this club is if Dylan keeps getting repeatedly injured. I think Charlie's future will be at another club.

Edwards has always had it
Look at To'o 1st try in NRL from an Edwards pass

The issue is he plays 15-20 games a year. Doesn't have the impact Turbo has so it is forgotten.

He plays a full season he gets 10-15 try Assists easy

As for Staines wing or England it is.

Edwards always starts looking a bit sharper in attack/with his hands when he strings some games together and gets his confidence. If he can put a full season together I think we’ll see him become a much more functional, if not awesome, attacking fullback.

Really interesting how split the fan base is on Charlie. I see a guy who reads the game way better than most kids, executes well and has speed to burn. He might not be a specimen like Critta but I think he’ll continue to improve his physicality and how he compensates to become a very good fullback. Learning defence/positioning from Dyl will give him a good foundation.

Goes to squad balance for me.

Assuming May takes the wing spot
To'o is only a winger but an elite one
Crichton will be a centre
Maybe Tago moves to the back row and frees up a centre spot.

Staines can't play centre so he is basically waiting for a back 3 to get injured to come in.
Turuva as a back up can play wing, centre, Fullback
Jenkins left and right centre or wing. Is pretty big so could even play off the bench and fill in at backrow if needed

You would then have the guys lower down that would want to be looked at:

Fakatoumafi - Current 18th man in NSW Cup. Plays fullback, Centre, wing and goal kicks
SG Ball is still under 19. We have the best attack so you'd expect a few of them to filter through the higher grades at the back end of this season.

That is the problem with the fringe guys. Always someone coming through

How do you know that Staines can not play centre?

I think Staines could learn to play centre fairly well. He's good at reading the game and seems willing to work on his short comings.

Wouldnt likely be an immediate success. But I would back him to do a solid job for us if playing centre. Honestly the only thing holding him back so far this year is a lack of opportunity on the right edge. Critta has thrown some poor passes but more importantly we just haven't had nathan out there to help create those extra chances
