Body type for a start, he'd get mauled by backrowers. Not a knock on Charlie but he's a fullbackHow do you know that Staines can not play centre?

Next off season I am sure he will bulk up again. Izack Tago, is the same height, and Staines, and he is 6 kilos heavier, and he isn't getting mauled by the backrowers.Body type for a start, he'd get mauled by backrowers. Not a knock on Charlie but he's a fullback

Tago is a forward learning to play in the backs.Next off season I am sure he will bulk up again. Izack Tago, is the same height, and Staines, and he is 6 kilos heavier, and he isn't getting mauled by the backrowers.

Charlie also shouldn't bulk up anymore, would only hurt speed and movement
He can still play in the centres no doubt about that.Tago is a forward learning to play in the backs.

I highlighted this because it makes sense to choose him over a player who can play 1 position. If Tago can replace Kikau next year and bring in Turuva and bides his time to take the FB spot. I think that is the clubs best option moving forward.Goes to squad balance for me.
Assuming May takes the wing spot
To'o is only a winger but an elite one
Crichton will be a centre
Maybe Tago moves to the back row and frees up a centre spot.
Staines can't play centre so he is basically waiting for a back 3 to get injured to come in.
Turuva as a back up can play wing, centre, Fullback
Jenkins left and right centre or wing. Is pretty big so could even play off the bench and fill in at backrow if needed
You would then have the guys lower down that would want to be looked at:
Fakatoumafi - Current 18th man in NSW Cup. Plays fullback, Centre, wing and goal kicks
SG Ball is still under 19. We have the best attack so you'd expect a few of them to filter through the higher grades at the back end of this season.
That is the problem with the fringe guys. Always someone coming through
Zero evidence of that.He can still play in the centres no doubt about that.
Agree with Tago and Turuva.I highlighted this because it makes sense to choose him over a player who can play 1 position. If Tago can replace Kikau next year and bring in Turuva and bides his time to take the FB spot. I think that is the clubs best option moving forward.
I watched Soni yesterday and he looks sharp, I know it is a level down, but if injury free he can surely replace Koroisou
I realize that, however, there is zero evidence that he can't.Zero evidence of that.

we do need to bring one, But they must be more than a sideways movement. Kenny wants that 9 jumper, but I think he is a fringe player giving 20 games a season off the bench, especially with Hopgood and L Smith coming through.Agree with Tago and Turuva.
I think we'll need to bring in a hooker
Edwards is looking better in attack but I'm not sure we can have both he and Kenny in the spine together. Having Yeo helps but the attack will be pretty easy to shut down. We are really going to miss Api, he doesn't run it that much these days but the markers know he can so they stick with him. The side is going to miss himwe do need to bring one, But they must be more than a sideways movement. Care to share?Incorrect
He's clearly too small it's that simple. If he bulks up anymore he'll lose all his upside. He'll never play centreCare to share?

I am pretty certain that there are similar sized centres playing in the NRL.He's clearly too small it's that simple. If he bulks up anymore he'll lose all his upside. He'll never play centre
So I am a chance of a contractNo Bennett only goes for old guys.
I think Staines could learn to play centre fairly well. He's good at reading the game and seems willing to work on his short comings.
Wouldnt likely be an immediate success. But I would back him to do a solid job for us if playing centre. Honestly the only thing holding him back so far this year is a lack of opportunity on the right edge. Critta has thrown some poor passes but more importantly we just haven't had nathan out there to help create those extra chances
