Really don't see the point in naming a side if we are NEVER going to field that side in the first place - This is a really minor thing, but my god it annoys the shit out of me!!

We have to name a side on Tuesday. Fitness and different things tried at training leads to it changing.

Oh I wasn't saying it's just us, just the fact we need teams named before they can be established is stupid IMO - I just don't see the point to HAVE to have the teams named on Tues

Merrin a chance of not playing - apparently has glandular fever.

When he withdrew from the last match it was rumored to be glandular fever, but was that confirmed? Being knocked over for a week with a mystery virus is a lot different to glandular fever which could wreck his season.

It shouldn't wreck his season. Unless it is a severe case, athletes quite often don't know they have it and just feel flat / a little tired. The antibodies can take weeks and weeks of blood testing to show up for confirmation of glandular too. Severe cases can cause significant weight loss though.

Would much rather Matt Moylan played then Trent Merrin. Trent Merrin is easier to cover with our forwards. We have a number of capable forwards and only so many minutes they can play.

Matt Moylans replacement is often our worst player. While Matt Moylan was quiet often our best. That's a huge difference in quality.

I'm feeling a lot better," the Panthers lock forward told NRL.com.

"It really rocked me around over the weekend. I'm slowly building back up and just getting ready for the weekend.

"All the symptoms and signs pointed to glandular fever, but I'm not too bad at the moment. I've been told that it really rocks you around for a few weeks or even a few months. So touch wood I don't think it'll be that.

"I had the last two days on the field and now I'm just tiptoeing back into it and getting the body back into a reasonably good state."]

Merrin quote from today, sounds like he is sweet.

Personally I wouldn't bring him back until he is 100%, not 90% or 99%. No need to rush him and when he does come back, clearly he is going to be rusty and not match ready so likely to be a couple of games before he finds some form.

Franklin normally has good info but we shouldn't need Moylan to win if he's replaced by someone who can catch a bomb

The info might of been good yesterday but if he sat out today all bets are off. Dallin to FB is still a lot better than smith.

To be honest, if he needs another week. Just give it to him. Why rush him? We've shown we can win games and if we focus on jagging wins then come the latter parts of the season we will want him 100%.
