I have said it for a while now. Edwards is such a underrated fb. I believe he is in top 5 going around. He is reliable, makes good metered, rarely makes mistakes and is always there in support. His biggest downfall he isn't a show stopper like teddy. He is a work horse and our team would suffer without him.

We have a team carving up and everyone seems dead on getting rid of the fullback that is on the way up
Bullshit. I've proposed a hypothetical based on a possible scenario considering Crichton is physically superior to Edwards. I'm literally the one who has argued Edwards is a top 5 fullback on the forum and ben shot down. The issue is people think one player being good MUST mean the other is bad which is such a simplistic view of the game.

Going to spend the entire day praying may isn't at fullback. Anyone else want Staines even if it isn't the most likely or practical due to available replacements?
Staines has spent the most time playing fb out of anyone available and he killed it there. Why isn't the most practical?

Naden and Jennings aren't available to cover his wing due to being suspended.
With all the due respect to the Sea Eagles. How much does his replacement really matter against them with our stronger forward pack? Bully Burns is a bad centre and never played there before but because our forwards rolled the Knights he score a hatrick on debut at centre. Naden will be back round 5 it's only one game.

So if Crichton comes out and plays on the level of say Turbo it'd be a mistake to consider keeping him there? I'm talking if he proves to be downright elite not just serviceable.

What's the point of having him there even if he kills it but it weakens the squad overall.

Edwards has been close to our best player this season. The first 40 against the storm was some of the best footy I've seen him play...

The set repeat he got was all him... 3 touches/runs that set. He set up the Staines try with a beautiful in and away on Munster and a perfect pass to momo.

He made no mistakes and a shitload of meters. If he'd had played 80 and not 40 against the storm he'd be close to top for run meters and tackle breaks.

Hes gotten better every year in the nrl and has a huge motor. Watch a replay of a game just to watch what Dylan does off the ball. It's incredible how much work he gets through.

I have no idea who is but I'd say fairly confidently that Dylan would be the fittest at the club by a fair margin.

I guarantee I see these games more than everyone here. I know exactly what Edwards brings and have tried in vain to argue he's a top 5 fullback on here.

Edwards being good doesn't mean the roster is weaker overall if we lose him or change his position if Crichton turns out to be better.

Dyl gets injured an awful lot which is something that might count against him going forward

Whether we re-sign him is a different story but he until there is an issue no need moving someone else

Like back to square one with centres for no need. Crichton himself can be a hog so no guarantee he is better than Edwards in the areas he lacks

Because what happens to Edwards in this scenario? Can't have 2 Fullbacks so whichever way you spin it. Still are getting rid of a pretty good fb for someone who may or may not be better.

I haven't seen much improvement in passing for starters

It's 100% Edwards spot but it will be great to see Critter there 4-6 games. Will tell us a lot

I'm legit getting angrier than I should because clearly people aren't actually reading what's on the page and responding to what I didn't say which is "we need to replace Edwards with Crichton".

You: "Still are getting rid of a pretty good fb for someone who may or may not be better."

I PROPOSED A HYPOTHETICAL IN WHICH CRICHTON PLAYS LIKE AN ELITE FULLBACK ON THE LEVEL OF TEDESCO AND TURBO THEREFORE BEING MUCH BETTER THAN EDWARDS AND CONSIDERING THE RAMIFICATIONS FOR FUTURE ROSTER CONSIDERATIONS. THIS IS BORN OF THE FACT THAT IT IS POSSIBLE BUT NOT CERTAIN AS CRICHTON IS PHYISCALLY SUPERIOR AS AN ATHLETE THAN EDWARDS.

Sorry for the caps but the point has been missed enough.

I’m really not sure what Edwards has to do to impress people on here. He’s one of the best players in one of the best teams in the NRL.

Dylan is a gun fullback.

I hope just Hope that Critta is able to get to Edwards level.

If you watch us much as you say you do than you will or at least should understand the importance of team dynamics and make up.

We have literally been on the biggest win streak because of team Harmony and a perfect balance across the team, especially the spine.

A lot of this team including luai, Edwards, cleary etc have played together for a long time. They know each other's game.

If Critchon turns out to be better than we need to unearth a new centre. Young blokes in nsw cup are at least 18 months away. No one else is nrl standard. Matt burton is leaving next year....

Sometimes team dynamics is more important than having a freak in one position. Critta is good but hasn't done anything to suggest he is better than Edwards at this stage.

Even if he was,I'd be reluctant to change what was one try from getting us a premiership and has started this season in same fashion.

I'm just thankful someone actually read and understood it without changing it and made an argument accordingly at this point.

The pro Edwards club needs to accept there’s a good chance he will loose his spot or he will get a better offer and leave. Both Staines and critta are signed up longer and more highly rated as prospects. It’s not a knock on Edwards to say there is a chance of either of those possibilities it’s just the reality of the nrl and salary cap

I know you rate Edwards. I do too.

I'd be willing to make some changes to the team throughout the season.

Potentially naden for momo.
Burton jagging a bench spot etc.

I'd also be willing to rest blokes over origin including yeo, capewell and cleary. I think we have the depth to cover those positions and if we are travelling ok and are well in the 8 then I think resting some blokes will pay dividends towards back end of season.

I'm sure at points throughout this season we will plenty of blokes play different positions.

I'm not convinced critta will actually play fb this year. Seen ivan do last minute changes pretty much his whole time here. Regardless to who plays there this weekend I just want to get the job done.
