Everything is worth a try as far as I am concerned. However, we won the last game and Hook won't change a winning team. He likes to play things safe and doesn't appear to want to take risks and as he has the final say the team for the Roosters game will be the same except that Kerr might not be included and Woods likely to come in.

Agree.

Hook has made it clear that He is sticking with the current run on side, even after the losses prior to the win.

Cant see him changing much at all.

All these calls for Hunt to shift to hooker are getting annoying, particularly when the 5/8, Fullback and hooker are not firing.
If Amone and Sloan had been killing it, it may have been worth a shot but to move the only spine member pulling his weight is ridiculous at the moment.
It may happen next season or sooner if forced with injuries but having an inexperienced 6 and 7 is very risky.

I am now in agreement SGMax. That is why Hook hasn't made these changes. He knows where players at this current time should play. I don't think that he has even considered putting Hunt in at hooker. Even when McCullough is injured during a game, Amone slots in or someone else rather than Hunt as Hunt in his opinion is the best half we have at the moment. Hunt isn't a specialist hooker, he is a specialist half. He was good when playing as the hooker in SOO but that is SOO not weekly league.

Further down the line we will get another specialist hooker to take over from Macca but that is in the future.

The only change that might happen is Sloan coming back in if McCullough is injured and Mbye moves in to the hooking spot.

Playing against the roosters will make it abundantly clear that he needs 2 creative halves, otherwise hunt will get shutdown and the dragons will go nowhere, bird is best suited to 2nd row
We had a win against a team struggling and Hunt had a good game but what about the last 14 loses that he hasn't closed out game when they were there to win ..... One win and everything is forgotten , Hunt must be in the team, he is gutsy leads by example, but for me can do what he does now from 9 ..... Lets see how he goes this weekend against the Roosters hope he gives it to them ..... If Bud is ready throw him into 7 .....

Max whats risky about moving him ..... One win or 2 wins in 14 and its all forgotten ..... Not that the 1 and 6 at the moment are on fire ..... I see your point but its been a long time we are going no where so for me no risk at all going with the young guy's ......

illusion I tend to agree with you, our better option would be to bring amone back at 6 and bird to the second row, those calling for bud to immediately go back into the 6 or 7 role need to remember that he has only had 2 games in ressies in many months. watching him closely he still lacks match fitness and we certainly dont want to risk him by throwing him into the nrl especially into a team that will be under pressure because our forwards dont tend to dominate.

We are a team with very little attacking creativity. We don't have a back that can get on the outside of a player and create an overlap (ala Gaz) . We don't have a back with sustained pace to score a length of field try (ala Moz). We don't have a player that can catch at pace and throw a long cut-out pass (ala Dufty). We don't have a running hooker. We don't have a prop that can consistently offload especially close to the line. We don't have a creative consistent field kicker (ala Sowie).
But we do have a great mascot.

We do have a team at least which wears the mighty Red V besides having the great mascot.

However, the standard of the players in the team do not compare to the players we did have. Our recruiters had trouble with the cap I think and they couldn't bring in a like for like player or better player.

Like the Roosters - when they know that they will be getting rid of or losing a very good player, they line up a similar or better player (eg, B Smith replacing Friend, Cronk replacing Pearce, Tedesco replacing Tuivasa-Sheck etc.)

We seem to recruit plodders, journeymen, rejects etc. - which is not raising the standard.

Just a minor thing but it may resonate with players. Could someone explain to me why Tautau Moga is 18th man ahead of Tyrell Sloan and Cody Ramsey? I haven't heard of him excelling in the KOE.

This team put in a great effort against Newcastle. Hunt was inspiring and Suli, McGuire, Feagai and Su'a all played exceptionally. At times our defensive structures were messed up and Ponga made us look silly. Rava has gone AWOL which probably means he's due for a big one.

This team however won't be beating many, if any, top 8 sides in my opinion. Roosters are nowhere near their best at the moment but I fear they will comfortably account for us. I reckon this is going to be the game they announce themselves in 2022. Maybe we can lift for the occasion but that didn't eventuate last year.

Tedesco, Manu, Tupou, Keary, Radley, Walker and Tupunua all dangerous weapons in their own way. Not sure where we find the points to match them, sadly.

Hopefully we at least make them work for every point and bring the brute physicality that can unsettle them a bit.

Here's hoping we come set to work hard, support the guy with the ball in hand and unite as a cohesive team. Go Dragons!!

Fair Point Dave,

Like many saw the Game and Generally agree with your post. Problem as always too little too late. #7 can be a Genius but not consistent enough (however Our Pack Doesn't Help Him at All). The Side is in (Possibly Hook's Longer Strategy if He lasts) a rebuild phase. The Big #3 Keeper, #1 Solid at back doing his Job (Reminds Me of Mick Potter). De Belin & Sims (why He didn't pass escapes Me) need to start earning their keep. The #9 Needs nurturing (Edge/ Ennis style of player).

The Islander Boys seem to be having a Go and should be Fostered. #4 I reckon is frustrated (but no excuse for Bad Manners) & needs to get His mind on the job. Leave the Wingers alone the Inside give them nothing lately.

We are running a B- Side that's the fact. We won't worry many this or in subsequents years.

RW
