He didn't get the arse. Mutual agreement means it was an amicable parting of the ways. It has been on the cards for a while.
Since Griffin was sacked. It was at that point the board decided he was to have his teeth pulled out.

I am not a fan of DWZ at centre. I think he will be shown up defensively in a big way. Unless he has trained significantly for the role the positional decision making he is going to have to make will be tough.

My expectation is that we get shredded on his edge.

If he's on the left you won't be able to attribute it to DWZ anyway - we always get shredded on the left regardless of the personnel.

If he's on the right and we get shown up down that side, well that will be something new and likely we end up having 50 put on us.

FWIW, I think he'll be fine defending in the centres. He's big enough and quick enough (at least as quick as Whare) and seems to enjoy the contact. Test will be when he comes up against the better centres.

Risk for DWZ is if he's no good at centre and Aekins goes well at FB, he may be left with only wing as an option at this club. But I think he's made for the centres.

Good team.
I hope DWZ thrives and I like the 2 brothers playing side by side.
DWZ could really do well at centre and could own It for NZ as well if he kicks on.
Good luck to Aiken’s hopefully he can add a bit of ballplay to our attack and some stability in defence.

It's kind of like the Cleary to hooker discussion though. There are some undeniable strengths but the position switches requires such a different set of skills that its virtually impossible to know whether they have the vision and decision making to do well in their new role.

What I really like about this move is that we get to see how he does with little risk. He's only keeping Fuimaono out of the team. It also allows us to significantly change the balance of our misfiring back 5 by bringing in Aekins who himself has probably deserved a shot based on his lower grade form.

And geez imagine him and Waqa carving up on opposite sides.

That’s all true. Hopefully he does well.

I like the team cant complain about dwz in the centres if johns is not in our top 30 i would have 1 change though katoa out and either ellis or luai in we dont need 2 hookers.Good to see laurie blore leniu getting a run in canterbury cup they are 3 of the most promising flegg boys at the moment bar stephen chrichton at centre. We need to fast track these kids and keep them.in canterbury cup once flegg season is over with a look to promoting them into 1st grade maybe in a yr or 2.

I rate DWZ as a centre probably his best position. Worse case he goes bad and we fall back to Fuimaono or Yeo. Certainly better then doing the same thing and expecting different results

This would be fine if it was applied both ways, but there is no way Klein will referee that way. Souths complained about this so they will get everything go their way.

No complaints about the team named - Sele must be a disciplinary thing otherwise we're at our strongest. It's now up to the team and coach to get it done on the field.

Good luck to Aekins and DWZ.

I wonder how much longer before players will be picking up steel chairs from the edge of the playing field and hitting each other with them.

Surprising side. Fan of Aitkens, has a bit of ball playing. He is no Moylan but a step up from DWZ in that category.

Surely it means Blake back to the left. With DWZ playing right wing you wouldn't shift him to play left centre.

I like that we have stuck with Tamou/Grant as the starting props. Its a reliable combination. We won't blow teams away but if we can get the best out of Leota and RCG it will change everything.
