Disappointed but a lot like last year our attack is just not there yet, defensively very good. Positives are Taylan was great and Tago pretty good also. I thought the intensity in our middles off the bench was great, there was no real drop off when we had Lindsay and Henry on. Henry’s work rate is excellent he’s going to be very good. My fears after one game are how small all our outside backs are, no tall players there and not a lot of genuine speed. I’m also a little worried that neither centre are genuinely good passers. Hopefully that develops as we gain confidence and cohesion in attack but I am worried those slick passing moves we used to run with critta catch and pass or draw and pass won’t be anywhere near as effective with Taylan or Tago.

Sending a goal post out in place of Eisenhuth would of offered more. Lots of plod on that bench.
Can't afford to have Smith, Garner, Eisenhuth and Henry all in the team. At least two of them have to go. We need to try Lisati, Riki or Mav, or start getting used to losing a lot more often.

It looks like they've been reading too much of the press over the off season about how good they are. Leota and Cleary have begun this season in shocking form.

Huth is the only one I have an issue with, the rest are fine. We need to persist with smith and Henry, with sorro back huth drops out.

They're the two I'd stick with, but surely we've got a better options than Garner

Don’t mind garner, he hasn’t started in great form but neither has Moses, fish or Martin. It’s just the huth selection that bothers me, if they don’t think Geyer or Lisati or even Riki could offer a bit more in that short stint move them on and start developing the next group

I don’t think Luke was too bad, he at least gave us some unpredictability with the ball which we badly need. Even if he doesn’t know what the f**k he is going to do next himself.

Overall not too concerned. Melbourne were awesome in defence and sometimes you just need to give credit.

We definitely need an impact forward, someone who’s there for a good time not a long time.

People shit on Barrett but he’s been the only attacking coach who has ever got us humming.

Not sure it is just Barrett. Last night we had Garner doing what we had Kiks doing back then. We haven't evolved the attack enough yet we are expecting our defence to be enough

Correct.

We can add another solid player in Kenny next week

That is the issue, That bench player is going to be 15-20 mins. Some leg speed either side of halftime would be handy

Your praise of Luke is becoming laughable at this point. Do you really think you’re right and everybody else is wrong about this, or is it some sort of attempt to save face after the egregious “will be better than Api” call?

Either way, please give it a rest. Take the L, admit you were wrong and move on.

He does yes. Despite often being so wrong

Everyone can see the issue but him.

Yes the halves a few times got caught out as they are getting used to playing both sides.

The little run before he passes it doesn't help get quick ball to Yeo to still put on a move. That is one area that will look better with Kenny.

Yeo is better 7 than half other teams halves

After watching the match sober we weren’t bad it took (according to media) an epic defensive effort by Storm to hold us out. Melb could be a Top4 side. If Martin had held the pass we would have scored and put a second one on 2-3 sets later. I honestly think if Munster had played we would have won. The one positive is that we don’t have worry about going through undefeated.

I get that but he's one of the worst defenders I've ever seen. Anyone quick will carve him up, imagine Ponga or Walsh just blowing straight past him

As a centre you are right. In the pack he is surrounded by Beast defenders. Reading the attack and lateral movement are his issue.
