Round three vs The Storm

Whatever the reason, Edwards is just super injury prone. Soft tissue, bone breaks etc. Could just be he’s unlucky, but it’s a problem for a key position player.

Great game, I loved it, we had a ball.

few things that stood out to me.
-Edwards - in the 1st half, we field for a genuine stars, he was the best player on the park. I don’t care what anyone says, I super happy he’s our fullback, he’s really developing his game.

-Tmay - I know I bang on about him a lot, but last night he really showed why I believe he’s the best utility in the game. Slotted straight in FB which he hasn’t played since U20’s and did such a good job. Maybe not in attack, but his defence and chat out the back was game saving. He has such a good footy brain.

-Yeo - if he’s not the blues 13, Freddy is kidding himself.

So happy with the gutsy win, they really made me proud.

Hopefully the boys pull up better than expected and we move onto Manly

I think it was Ivan or one of the commentators said that T may knocked the players off his feet which allowed Kiks a couple of secongs to position himself underneath the ball in that attempted try.

May could be called in for Edwards and everyone on here will blow up delux. But if that occurs Burton to 14 and so on. Perhaps least disruption. If it's not working during the game either move Burton or Critta back there.

I’d be fine with trying Burton at fullback, but I suspect that’d be a bit too much of a slap in the face to Chricton & Staines who’ve committed here long term. If it was just for one week, then no big deal. But four weeks is a genuine shot for someone else to stake a claim on the position for the future.

It’s 4 weeks minimum longest 6 weeks
Burton to me is the best option. It keeps our 1 to 7 the same to build combinations.Right now they are way off tune .The more they play together the sooner they will gel

Indeed May chased from across the other side of the field and hit Olam which then turned him on his back and allowed Kikau and Spencer to hold him up.

I would never endorse starting May at fullback, but he did a hell of a job back there last night. When Dyl didn't come back & May went there I had flashbacks to Anasta in the 1 jersey. I thought we were done. He certainly covered it well.

The shot of Bellamy losing it would do fine :)

No doubt if The Roosters bought him under these circumstances they would claim him as one of their juniors but unless he moved from Cambridge Park to Townsville when he was 18, he is definitely not a Panthers junior.
There is no definite about it. Development also applies to 20 year olds. Kikau was not a first grade player when he arrived. We spent a year developing him into one. He didn't even join the Cowboys until he was 19, before that he was playing Union at school.

The reason I am comfortable in claiming him as a local product is simply this. So many players play in u20's at clubs and never make it into first grade. The drop out rate is massive and that also includes junior rep players. He was turned into a first grade player at Penrith. Development is a skill that can apply at all ages and doesn't need a kid to have come from Cambridge Park. Yeo, Burton, Staines and many others from outside the local district get to be NRL players because of the work done by the club. The club has every right to claim them when they have put the work in to get them up to standard.

There was no guarantee Kiikau would have made it at the Cowboys. He was a big unfit player who might have sunk without trace without the work done by the club to build his stamina. As Gus said, they even played him out of position just to build his fitness and skill even when they knew it wasn't good for the team. That said, the Cowboys did play a part in his development as well but he was in danger of just being another big Fijian who couldn't make the step up when it mattered.

Anyhow, it doesn't matter how you classify him, if the club only produced 14 of the 17 players on Friday night it is still remarkable. 15 out of 17, 14 out of 17 meh, let's not worry about arguing about it. Just consider how amazing it is when we consider this team that played in the last round of 2012 before Gus arrived.

Coote, Simmons, Vaivai, Tighe, Purtell; Burns, Walsh; McKendry, Kingston, Civoniceva (C), Waterhouse, Smith, Lewis. Int: Seluini, Plum, Grant, Austin.

There was a grand total of 7 juniors. Coote, McKendry, Waterhouse, Lewis, Seluini, Grant and Austin. Only Waterhouse and Lewis are good enough to play in this team now. McKendry might make the bench.

Then consider the hunger and attitude of the team we saw running around last night. A team proud to be Panthers and fighting over every inch of ground. An attitude present in them that starts with development at junior level. It is just awesome to watch.

I'm having a senior moment, who's Seluini?

Great win 5 day turnaround

No API
No Cleary
Edwards, Eisenhuth hurt 2nd half

huge win

Crichton or Burton will have to be fullback

Jennings and Naden are suspended so can’t move Staines

They where missing Papenhauzen,H.Grant,Finuacane,Kafusi. All representative level. And if you want can also count Branko Lee as missing.
Both teams under strength.

This is my take.

- Martin giving away a 4th tackle set restart changed momentum. You had Storm shot. He did a few bad things last night. Not his best game.

- Played a little to sideways. Needed to take them on more in guts. Felt like Leota and JFH barely played.

- Too is your best back. But I say this every week.

- Edwards was in sensational form. Couldn't pick a worse time for injury.

- Burton will be better then Cleary and Luai.

- Critchton needs to get more involved. A guy on big money can't have quiet games. 50% of the time.

- Spencer deserves 2 weeks suspension. It was a massive late dog shot.

- Far to kick happy. An early kick is good. But not every dam set.

- Staines saved atleast 2 tries on the Fox. Kept him quiet. He also scored a try. Had Mansour been there you lose this game. He hasn't the speed to of stopped the 2 tries or to of scored the one Charlie did.

-Spencer will be a beast in 12mths.

- By memory both Storms try's come from the wrong call at the start of the set. Penrith should of been given possesion due to Storm knock ons.

- If Olam scored why wasn't it called obstruction earlier? Kikau was taken out which opened the original hole that the Melbourne player ran in. It then drew Pa there players to come in which created the overlap. How wasn't Kikau obstructed? He was taken out and they gained an advantage. It should of ended there.

- And lastly. When Capewell see's a hole his natural instincts is he just goes for it. It was great he come out the other side.

Thanks guys and good luck next week.

And if it was my side.
Critchton goes to fullback. And then decide who is your centre. I'd lean towards May with Burton to 14. But if want to keep May at 14 then it's either Salmon or Burton. Id lean to Burton. He would be fine.
