At a bucks party. Everyone here isn't a panthers fan bar one. Interesting to here others thoughts. Two main things I've heard all day..

Number one is Everyone thinks luai is up there with Munster as best 5/8/ half in nrl

People rate kikau more than I do (so a negative I guess)

Other things I've heard from non panthers fans.

Jfh best forward in the game

Leota underrated

Capewell.... overated ( outsider thoughts not mine)

Dylan Edwards- best fb behind teddy

The rest was fairly standard to whst most on here think.

As I said the above opinions are from nrl due hards who aren't panther fans

Why would you make such a strong comment and then name four 5/8’s who weren’t the main general play kickers for the team?

I never made any comment about them being main kickers. I said in general terms they were incredibe long distance kickers. Who was better than those four in their teams at their prime? All 4 had an incredible long kicking game

It didn't matter in the end, but the bunker ruling that it was OK for the Storm lead runner to take Kikau out could have cost us the match, and was clearly incorrect. You can't just knock over players in the defence line.

Also I'm not so sure they got the To'o no try decision correct, I'll take a closer look a bit later.

Completely agree re kikau call

They where missing Papenhauzen,H.Grant,Finuacane,Kafusi. All representative level. And if you want can also count Branko Lee as missing.
Both teams under strength.

I wasn't discounting who they had out but many people. Including a few on here had question marks on our depth etc.

They had 10 players from the GF last year so were still a handy side and we still beat them. That is huge for any doubts the squad or coaching staff had

On these points

Luai- I agree only Keary is in front although Keary is now in 7 so maybe a non issue.

This year we are starting to see Kikau realise his potential. I think Ivan has his playing time just right and it is showing on the field. Defence and attack making fewer errors and staying involved.

JFH - Agree atleast the best prop

Leota- Nah his rating matches his impact

Edwards - Not that high. I'd have him over RTS and Cutherson.

Not in the same ball park as Teddy. Papenhuyzen, Tom Turbo

I rate Brimson higher and Ponga around the same.

5 or 6 sounds far. Depends if Ponga finds consistency or not

Rubbish. Plenty of great 5/8s have been main kickers, especially out of own end. Fitter, anasta, campese, locky. Absolute Rubbish.

I never made any comment about them being main kickers. I said in general terms they were incredibe long distance kickers. Who was better than those four in their teams at their prime? All 4 had an incredible long kicking game

You literally said that that Plenty of 5/8s have been the main kicker. That was the point you were making.

Interesting. I get this one from non Panther fans too.

I rate him (more highly after last night tbh) but he's not our best player and certainly not head and shoulders above anyone else as some people I know seem to think.

Both teams missing key players. Both will be there at business end. Unsure who improves most. Panthers have more room imo due to Staines and Spencer along with Critchton

Edwards played a great half a game.
Gutherson at this stage is superior. He is the best passing fullback in game. He also brings energy. Saved 4 x tries against Storm. Its easy to just see a few busted tackles. But one guys has 50 odd try assists in his last two years.

Teddy,Turbo,Rts,Papenhauzen,Ponga are your top 5. Guth just behind them.
Edwards is next tier.....

JFH is great. But Papali is the best prop in game at this point.Jnr offers far more in attack and no way I'd swap him for the Fish. You still have Haas,JT,Fonua Blake to think about.
In 2yrs he might be the best as a lot of those guys might get old.

You're not getting it.

Some Panthers fans said we had poor depth. It's being proven wrong is what @franklin2323 is saying. He's correct.

Have a look at NSW cup. I haven't heard of most teams back ups. Penrith have plenty of legit NRL players.

Naden, Kenny,Jennings,Burton, Salmon. Just off top of head.

Jerome Luai is not in any way, shape or form in the “Mitch Pearce mould” he is a completely different style of player.
Wait I mistyped. I meant he isn't the Mitch Pearce/Cleary type. As in it isn't in his natural game to be a dominant playmaker. I think it's fair to say he didn't make his touches count as he usually does because he wasn't playing his natural style. Has to focus too much on organising and less on looking for opportunities.
